These cases are not equivalent to desmay. It's like buying any knock off product. The material is different, the quality is different.

How do you know? Do you have proof? Do you have the two cases for comparison? On their website, Desmay says that they're based in HongKong. These cases probably come from the same factory, the only difference is the little D logo, and the fact that Desmay is "branded" while the ebay ones aren't.

You can go purchase the eBay ones, I don't care. A comparison will probably be done sometime soon. Your argument that they are both made in Hong Kong doesn't hold ground. The iPhone is made in china, does that mean some cheap knock off on eBay is the same as an iPhone? Furthermore, the eBay cases were posted prior to the release of the iPhone 5 I remember seeing them. The desmay was just recently finalized.

Why anyone would waste their time comparing two cheap plastic iPhone cases, I don't know. And I never said that they were both made in HongKong. I hypothesized that they were probably both made in China. Considering that the iPhone itself is even made in China, I seriously don't doubt that these cases are too. So... if the ebay cases came out before the Desmay ones, how exactly are they knock offs? Seems like you're just one of those people who likes to be advertisment billboards for companies and would refuse to buy something just because it's a no-namer. Just because something has a "brand" to it, doesn't make it better than something else that is exactly the same. Comparing knockoff iPhones to the real iPhones is not even close to comparing two plastic iPhone cases because a lot more goes into an iPhone as opposed to plastic and a mould. The Desmay Slight doesn't boast to be technologically superior to any other cases, other than the fact that it's super thin. Desmay doesn't claim that it's made out of diamonds or anything special. It's just a super thin case, made of plastic, whatever kind of plastic it may be. So to put Desmay's case on a pedestal just because it's "Desmay" and not a knockoff, is completely ridiculous. If the other cheaper and potentially the same ebay cases can achieve the same goal - being 0.35 mm thin or less, then I'd say it would be pretty easy to decide which one to buy. 23 dollars or 3? Hmm...

That all being said, I don't care either what you do with your money. You can spend 8x the money for a plastic phone case that's exactly the same as a 3 dollar plastic phone case... Then you probably should save some of that money and spend it on a financial advisor instead of looking for more excuses to throw your money away.

That's bs. I have bought a lot of different cases like this for my 4s. They are the same. Only differences have been that the bottom is more cut out. Of course the cost is much less.

It's only 0.3mm. How much difference can there really be?

I bought the Griffin Reveal version for the iPhone 5, it seems to have stiffer rubber this time around. While i was on my iPhone 4 since it first came out, the Case last about a year till the rubber started coming off the plastic back. Vans need to come out with an iPhone 5 version of their Waffle-Sole Case! hahaha!

Gosh, I saw this thread and thought "thank goodness, another general case thread." ... since we only have 275 other threads discussing the EXACT same thing, congrats. This is America, home of getting points for showing up to class. LOL

I posted this on a similar thread, but since yall were discussing the cheap ebay ones, I thought I'd repost it.

I have purchased a few of the cheap ultra thin matte protectors in different colors. I chose to do that because of a post on this forum a long time ago that showed a white one. Just make sure if you're ordering from an ebay seller, that you can see all angles of the case in the photos. Some sellers have ones that either aren't closely cut around the sides or they don't cover the top (which is stupid because they don't stay put). Also, I have the Bodyguardz pure (thanks to a 50% code from here several weeks ago) so the case not sticking up on the sides doesn't bother me since my screen is well protected.

Pros:
  • VERY smooth. Doesn't get caught on anything like some rubbery cases do.
  • VERY slim. I can hardly tell a difference whether it's on or off.
  • Tight fit. This is a pro because it doesn't budge when it's on the phone and it's very secure.
  • Transparent. I like being able to see the apple logo and the aluminium and glass under the case. I'm a girl and currently I have the pink one on but I also have a white and blue (white iphone) that both look great. If you don't look closely, it almost looks like I have a pink or blue iphone which is fun. It comes in white and black though if you don't want color.

Cons:
  • Hard to get on. I was worried since you really have to shove it in there, that it might scratch the sides. I've taken the cases on and off several times and no scratches.
  • One of my cases had some weird scratches on it but I didn't care that much since it's not noticeable and the case would get scratched up a bit anyways.

Honestly, I don't see the point in spending a bunch of money on a case that I'm going to want to change out all the time anyways. It does the job, ads virtually no bulk, and I can change the color for the $5 it takes to order another one on ebay. I order from within the United States typically which is why it's $5 as opposed to 2-3. I did order one from China though, and it arrived just fine.

This set of cases from this seller is where I ordered last and it came really fast and in great condition. http://www.ebay.com/sch/m.html?_odkw=ultra+slim+iphone+5+hard&_ipg=25&_osacat=0&_from=R40&_armrs=1&_ssn=lee262online&_trksid=p2046732.m570.l1313&_nkw=ultra+slim+iphone+5+snap+hard&_sacat=0

All of his cases are good. But, if you buy somewhere else, just make sure whichever one you order has separate cutouts for the buttons and they didn't just take a chunk out of the side and make sure it covers the top part of the phone too.

Not sure if it's the "best" but def a low profile case that looks great on the white iPhone. $5 on eBay. Slim, matte back (no scratching or fingerprints), and no huge camera cutout. Perfect for my needs.
