I just want a slim case that will work while I attache and detach from the magic keyboard...so I don't get so nervous detaching it. I truly like to use it 50-50 docked to the magic keyboard and tablet solo mode

I’m going to end up getting an Apple folio just for times when I don’t want to take the Magic Keyboard with me, mainly for the additional weight savings. I bike commute 2-3 times a week and I don’t normally need to bring the keyboard home with me (unless I know I have work to do) and don’t want to carry the combined keyboard and iPad Pro because the weight does add up.

The Burton and Torro both seem like quality cases but both don’t look like they have a typing mode like when you fold back the Follio cases ruling them both out for me
The Torro case does, I have that one for my 5th gen iPad Air, but it's not always completely stable. It needs to be on a hard flat surface, like a table to work properly.

I miss the old covers that only attaches ipad to the side and only covers the front screen. It was pure minimalism. Wonder why any corporate not releasing similar product (probably current ipad has not any magnets on left side of the device).

I miss when Apple used to offer their own leather smart covers. They were pretty decent and felt a lot nicer than the silicone offerings.

The ESR case is good but doesn’t support sleep/wake in my experience (iPad 11 Pro 2024). I’ve seen other reviews that suggest the same. Otherwise it's a fantastic case but worth keeping in mind if you're considering.View attachment 2381295

It does not put my 13" Pro to sleep. I'll keep it until better cases are available and just manually turn it off.

I have the ESR rebiund case. I got it because it was the only thin folio readily available. It does the job, although it does not give any side protection. That said, I won’t be using it long term because the method of holding the pencil on the side is a bit of a cludge. I guess it is better than most of the other cases here, but still. when using the iPad in the hand the pencil can be easily bumped off. This is particularly so if like me you are left handed (also an issue with the landscape camera when a lefty holds an iPad in portrait (have to consciously flip it around so that the port is on top). don’t get me wrong, it will be better in a landscape position overall.

Anyway, in a week or so cases from amazon vendors like jtech and finti will be available. The difference with the ESR rebound will be a fully enclosed folio case that extends out past the RHS of the iPad to have a fully enclosed pencil slot. A much more robust solution While still staying slim.

I'm holding out for the Pitaka MagEZ Case Pro. I've purchased the both cases and charging stands for my previous iPads and love them. I just hope the new cases will be compatible with the Mag EZ Charging Stands (pretty expensive). There's nothing like having a case that doesn't need to be removed for the Magic Keyboard.

Really, what I want to know is which, if any of these third-party cases allow for the multiple viewing angles that the Apple case now does.
Not the ESR one. I'm replacing it because the default angle is horrible. I'm above it and it only has one viewing angle.

I got the ESR one in the article and hate it.

The materials are fine the design is fine but the viewing angle is horrible. The problem is the front flap only magnetically attaches to the front flap and the triangle is designed so it stands up almost straight up.

I did like the securing flap that also holds the pencil without needing a permanent holder area that also attaches to the back. Gets out of the way.

I preordered a paperlike case. It appears to have a stronger angle and attach further up the back of the case itself so I can set it on a table and use it more from above. It has the same pencil/cover flap.

I'll deal with the bad case for a couple months and then switch.

What's frustrating is my ESR case from 5 years ago is the perfect angle. They made the design worse since then.

I have this case for the 13“ M4 iPad Pro and it absolutely supports sleep/wake now. I bought it as a temporary case while I wait for Logitech’s combo touch to arrive. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality and design, I would absolutely recommend.

Bought the Otter Studio. Protective and holds my Pencil securely. However I think it is best used if you have a screen protector. There is a slight gap on the front cover the way it folds over the iPad screen. If you put your iPad in a bag or backpack, the cover may slip a little bit and even if it doesn't there's enough room there for dust and grime to get in. I do love the way the front cover detaches though. versatlie cover with lots of viewing angles

If anyone finds this, please link it.
Put the magnet “spine” on the right side, if necessary.

It’s the new placement of magnets on the M4 Pro. ESR didn’t get the alignment right but it’s gonna be a bit before they get it corrected. I have this model for my M2 Pro and it’s great but I bought my son an M4 for college and he’s having this issue.

Not usually an OEM accessories person for cases given the cost, but the 6 iPads we've add since 2010 all have had Smartfolio cases and they've been worth it for function and durability.

Tried the ESR one and it disentegrated within 6 months on one of my parents iPads. And that's just with home use.

The Smartfolio has been on my 10.6 IPP for 7 years and although it's beaten up, still works. Again, mostly home use, but if I was to take an iPad out and about, I'd probably get another classier case for that usage.

I got the UAG case. Haven't received it but I bought one a long time ago with my old 9.7'' iPad Pro (2016) and I loved it.

Have you contacted support? They responded to me with an offer for a full refund (without needing to send the case back) or partial refund and a new case with the fix in addition to the case I have atm.
