I know, that's what I use. But Wineskin is a resource hog.

I have very fond memories of playing Minotaur with friends. (Also a nod to Bolo, which probably dates me terribly).

When I think 'best Mac game', I think it is only fair to immediately rule out any game that wasn't released either the same day or before any other platform.

For example, Knights of the Old Republic is not a Mac game, nor a PC game ... it is a console game ported to those platforms.

So the only two I can really think of in terms of big releases are Myst and Marathon.

Oh, and the Avernum / Geneforge games ...

... and DEFINITELY the upcoming Avadon!

I'd have to say Marathon, since it was built for the Mac and it was the precursor to so many other games today.

    Marathon II

Sure the original Marathon is good, but, the second one is just so much better than the first in every way.

I think that is completely unfair. :) If it runs natively on the Mac it is worthy of jugement pro or con. My example: World of Warcraft.

Absolutely. Marathon II: Durandal is not only the best Mac game ever; it's hands down the best computer game of all time.

Honors to the Avernum series as well - an absolutely addictive old-school RPG.

Hmm... do you mean A10 Attack and A10 Cuba? They were absolutely brilliant sims, and I would really like to play them again, and I don't think they would look that bad on a modern system since the graphics was all flat shaded polygons.

BTW, if you were a fan of that game, this might blow you away: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WUu4SV3GjVw :)

    The answer is . . .

The correct answer is Deus Ex.

But I'm a lenient grader, so you get half credit for Marathon.

Sadly, the correct answer is, unless the game is MAC exclusive it shouldn't be mentioned here, so Dues ex, Monkey island, etc are all better on PC .

IF a game is available Mac and PC, the PC version seems to always be superior (even when written properly, such as Starcraft 2, or World Of Warcraft, the Mac version runs noticeably slower than the Windows 7 Bootcamped version on the same hardware) probably down to better vendor and OS support for Graphics drivers ETC, and coders focus on learning Direct X under windows.

And don't get me started on the "Wrappered" games like Dragon Age Origins, i wasted money on that P.O.S Mac port and ended up having to buy it again for windows when i found out the addons support was broken and it ran like a DOG under OSX.

I am hoping the MAC appstore will not allow "wrappered" games, to encourage native porting so that hopefully we will get a good native game.
