Being a Mac user who used to be a PC user does not mean you have to look at games nostalgically. 😉 And I think you'll find there are a lot of Mac users with those types of early gaming memories. I started with an Apple IIe, had a great time Zork and other text adventure games. I kept it for 10 YEARS before upgrading to my first Mac in 1993, a Preforma 6300 and I'll tell you I have the most fond gaming memories of my first graphic intensive games. I'm thinking specifically of Marathon. This game was a real trip from the solo story to the multiplayer. I was amazed that 4 players could hook up their computers and fight each over a network, amazing! All the PC gamers like to talk about Doom, but Marathon kicked ass! 😀 And then there was the original Unreal, Myth, Myst, Warcraft, and other great games. I think that time of game development was very special because we were all virgins getting a taste of something completely new.
