Best return policy?

I did a Google search for Apple holiday return policy. Many lines with info from previous years but nothing for this year yet. Based on past years, it should start around the 15th.

No, you have to read the fine print on the Costco extended warranty for technology purchases. It specifically excludes touchscreen tablets. The exact wording on their site is:

*Excluding Touchscreen Tablets.

Makes it pretty clear that an iPad does not get the extension to 2 years. I plan on taking mine into the Apple store as soon as it arrives and adding Apple Care.

Yes, that's true. I didn't notice that they had listed it on the actual product page - I found the disclaimer in their overall extended warranty and concierge service information. I am going to inquire about this, because that's a pretty gross misrepresentation, in my opinion.

Just wanted to provide an update. I just got off a chat session with Costco Customer Service and they did confirm that the extended warranty does not cover the iPad. I stressed that the information on the page is grossly misleading, and the rep will pass this on. She has also asked me to provide the information via their website feedback form.

A lot of talk about extended warranties. How about checking to see what your credit card offers. I posted this in the Off Topic section a few weeks ago -

I was just reviewing the benefits of my Barclay Apple Rewards card and saw it offers extended warranty coverage for products purchased with the card. This doesn't just apply to Apple products and other cards might offer the same coverage, but this card is probably used for a lot of Apple purchases. And people probably don't know this coverage exists. It can come in handy if you don't purchase Applecare. At least you have some coverage.


A. To get coverage:

• You must purchase the new item entirely with Your card and/or
  
  accumulated rewards from Your card for Yourself or to give as
  
  a gift.
  
  
• The item must have an original manufacturer’s( or U.S.store
  
  brand) warranty of twenty-four (24) months or less.
  
  B. The kind of coverage You receive:

• Extended Warranty doubles the original manufacturer warranty up to a maximum of twenty-four (24) months on covered items You purchase. For products with multiple warranty components, each warranty time period will be extended up to a maximum of twenty-four (24) months on it covered items. I got approved for that card recently..so I assume that I would be able to get this extended warranty as well..so how would it work, lets say after 6 months(If purchasing the ipad pro from apple) it becomes defective and cannot be fixed..would I be provided a brand new one? I think the issue of something going wrong with the item is what made me want to originally buy from best buy(Extended holiday returns) but if purchasing using this card at apple will give me 2 years on the warranty than maybe its worth it just to buy it from apple using this card

I chatted with someone at Apple a few minutes ago. I asked when the holiday return policy will be starting. The answer was - As of the moment, we haven’t receive any updates yet about the return policy that we will have this coming holiday season.

I just buy from Apple and put it all on the Amex card. Good return coverage beyond Apples 14 day.

Also I did ask Apple staff in Apple Store Singapore about this, they aren't too sure yet about this year's but they have heard of last year's for the US (I didnt ask about last year's in Singapore, my bad)

I'm watching for this year's update. This info was posted here last year -

Apple's website says most products and accessories purchased in store (or received if ordered online) between November 15, 2017 and December 25, 2017 will be eligible for return until January 8, 2018 in the United States, Canada, Australia, United Kingdom, Germany, France, Netherlands, Sweden, and select other regions.

The dates are slightly different in a few countries, including Italy, Japan, and Spain, where most products and accessories purchased between November 15, 2017 and January 6, 2018 will be eligible for return until January 20, 2018.

Today's announcement - In addition to sharing its gift guide, Apple today also kicked off its holiday return period, offering a holiday extension on its typical two week return period. Most Apple products purchased between November 14, 2018 and December 25, 2018 can be returned to Apple through January 8, 2019.

Time for me to break out the Barclay Apple Rewards card!
