So it looks I'll be checking out powersupport one. Are these usually available at Apple Stores?

I unfortunately don't remember the image quality on those. Care to be more specific? And more importantly, does this diminish it enough that it would make one reconsider getting the Anti-Glare ones? How noticeable is the reduction in image quality? And with this being the case, how can they advertise it as "retina display compatible" and "HD"?

There's just a fine grain-ness to the image. Its noticeable but not a show stopper. I had it on my 3GS for the whole year and was more than content. That said i opted against it for the iPhone 4 because i wanted the 100% experience of the Retina and will use Crystal again for the 4S.

Put it this way, it will reduce glare and even help against fingerprints BUT image clarity/crispness of colours will be slightly diminished as a result.

Now that we've had a few generations of iPhones', what have you found to be the absolute best screen (and back) protector?
Best is always highly subjective and it's no different with screen protectors. What, specifically are you looking for in a screen protector? Different ones have different pros and cons and asking for blind suggestions won't help you in finding what you're looking for.

I've really liked the SGP oleophobic as it does not affect the clarity of the retina display. Its not the best oleophobic coating but it does help. I've never had problems with installs but I have quite a bit of experience with applying various screen protectors to many devices so keep in mind that YMMV.

Zagg and BSE have their own pros and cons. They're durable but tend to distort and the texture is very grippy. Again, clarify what you're looking for if you want recommendations. Never assume that your preferences are universal with subjective matters like this. There's never such a thing as a universal/absolute best.

I use SGP Steinhall Ultra Crystal full body. They do get scratched pretty easily, but they don't detract from the retina display at all, and they don't start peeling off after a month like Zagg's. Some people complain that they're difficult to apply, but I didn't have any problems. I'm using them for my 4, and I'll definitely be using them again for my 4S.

I haven't tried Power Support, though.

It's like the "white" on the display is not that smooth anymore :(,it gives some imperfection of the colour with the film on.

Based on these posts I'm inclined to go with Powersupport crystal. I assume the best plan would be to apply it the moment the phone comes out of the packaging.

Agreed?

Yes. :) I went through so many different screen protectors wasting so much $$$. Power Support is the best. Zagg is probably the worst.

Besides the Anti-Glare (and thus the matte vs glossy finish), what are the differences between the Anti-Glare and the Crystal screen protectors? And are the crystal ones available in brick-and-mortar Apple Stores?

Ridiculous that Power Support charges almost HALF the cost of the protectors for shipping. $7 to ship screen protectors are they insane?

I'm glad you posted this!...I got to that info and stoped my purchace!...Drop it in a envlope and mail it!....$.39 that's all it takes!....Rip off!...

!!!!!!!!!!!!

DO NOT follow this poster's method.

Alcohol + any of your electronic devices' screens = BAD.

You are absolutely correct... if I were to dip my phone it it. I use the iClear stuff they sell at the Apple store which is essentially alcohol in a viscous suspension.
