Ok but how do I put this Diffuser on? I've read superglue. But to what? The new backplate?

anyone ordered and received their backplate yet?

cnn.cn FINALLY shipped my order out on the 8th. took 20 days for them to do so.. sheesh. i'm gonna lose my mind if the stuff gets here and something's messed up lol

I didn't order through cnn.cn because of all the things I've read about it, but I did just put an order in through the sw-box.com site. I'll keep you guys posted.

I ordered an aluminum backplate form cnn about 2 weeks ago and supposedly it's arrived in Boston so hopefully it'll be delivered to me tomorrow. If so then I can put up my initial impressions.

I'm REALLY excited to replace the back glass of my phone. I know the glass is great design-wise, but it'll make me 50% more comfortable when that glass is off of there ... I might not think twice when I get home from work and throw my phone onto the coffee table!

I got the back cover today and of course no deffuser. Useless, not even going to bother putting it on.

I thought you understood the need for a diffuser, you posted something about it earlier in the thread..

they're only like $2 though, you might as well go ahead and order one..

if you're just going to get rid of the back cover, which one is it, and would you sell it?

edit: they've got them at this USA based store and they're only $2 + like $3 shipped.
http://applepartsstore.com/index.php/ that way you dont have to wait for another to ship from china if you decide to get one

Yeah, I just assumed that by now all of them would have diffusers. How would you attach it though?

Yeah, how are we attaching the diffuser to the metal back replacement?

I ordered from sw-box, one glass replacement (red) and one of the stainless steel ones - brushed metal. Still haven't received it yet, but it's been shipped.

I read here that the metal one didn't come with the diffuser, so I added that to my order also (it was like $0.98 or something), but the diffuser on their site says it's for the iPhone 4.... not specifically for 4S. Is there a difference? Will this fit on the 4S metal backplate that I ordered?

I've also read that people superglue these diffusers to the backplates that do not come with one? Anyone confirm this or have a better suggestion?

Got my aluminum backplate and my see-through one in thesis today. I'm crazy about the aluminum one! It so nice looking, and adds a bit more weight to the phone. Makes its feel a bit more luxurious IMO..

The transparent one is ok. I like the idea, but i wish I'd gotten It in black instead of the chrome. Too shiny for me lol..

Got my diffusers as well. Looks like superglue is going to be the way to put these on. I dont have any ATM so I tried some clear drying Elmer's gel stick, using the tip of my knife to put a tiny amount around the edges, but it spread out under the lense and caused flash wash-out. Hoping superglue will dry clear enough. Also, I noticed on the OEM iPhone back there's a tiny ring of styrofoam around its diffuser. I might see if I can make something like that to go on mine. Should help out quite a bit to keep the flash from spreading to the camera..

The pent slope screw drive is a trip lol. At first I thought it was a punch cuz the tip was so tiny, and I was about to freak out on the cnn.cn people, but I realized it was correct.

The plates were packages very nicely so overall it was a good $40 spent :) the aluminum plate looks pretty slick with my e13ctron knock off case, I just wish the case fit better :/

i order a carbonfiber, see-thru, bright green, and a few others from both sw-box and cnn.cn so ill let you guys know the quality and fit when I receive them

Well I haven't put a diffuser on my aluminum one, and I no longer have washout from flash. Not sure what changed from yesterday lol. I notice that it doesn't seem to cover the subject as well, but that's acceptable until for the moment. I've only got one shot so I don't wanna super glue a figure on and have it washout my pics.

Anyone put theirs on correctly?

I haven't put on the cover yet. Will pop it on later and report.

OK, I put it on and not only did it washout photos with flash the cover didn't fit 100% properly. The metal latch on the top is a bit wider than it should be.

Also trying to put back the original back was a bit of a mare, I found it hard to slide fully down.

The original was indeed a bit stiff at first.. Both to take off and put on

Who'd you order from? That sounds like you got an iPhone 4 CDMA backplate. The metal latches on those are wider. Could be made to fit if you filed it a bit.

sw-box.

Yeah I think it is the CDMA one. I definitely ordered from the 4S section.

Regardless of everything else I'm getting a hit on reception as well.

They must not have realized the CDMA versions aren't the same (as originally suspected).. I'd email em and see what they say

I think I'm getting a hit as well, but it's 1 bar at most. And that's with the aluminum backplate and my knock off e13ctron case

I got my white back plate in yesterday from http://applepartsstore.com/index.php/ that was posted earlier. I've always wanted to try the black front/white back since I first saw someone do it after the 4 came out.

I ordered the 4S white back plate for $25 and free shipping, and it's the real deal. They state on the website that it's OEM and I have no reason to believe otherwise. It's EXACTLY like the black OEM back plate. The shipping was fast and I can't recommend this website enough if you need OEM parts.

Of course, I also had to order a pentalobe screwdriver, but I didn't want to pay $15 from them for it, so I bought a cheapie off eBay. Wouldn't you know it? The darn thing is just a bit too big for the pentalobe screws on there!!! So, here I sit with my new back plate and bumper, but no way to install it. Dang!

I'd like to get this thing on there this weekend, so can someone suggest where I should look locally for a pentalobe screwdriver? I would assume a hardware store wouldn't have something like that, but maybe a eyeglass store or Radio Shack? I'm dying to get it installed! :D

I'd try a hobby store or if there are any mom and pop hardware stores, I'd try there. Can't think of many places that stock that tiny of a pentalobe
