iGAV, i see that you posted a link to www.computerlove.net. i just came accross that today, and came here to post it, but i see you beat me to it. well, looks like a really great site...

edit>> i almost forgot, have a look at www.digitalamigos.com. they've got a cinematics reel and a SFX reel. also, in the 'other stuff' section, you can get a bunch of their concept drawings and other goodies. :)

i still haven't looked at all the links here yet, either. :p but it's good having so much to look at. :)

yes, i'm studying animation & SFX this semester. just started using Shake, and i've got to say that i LOVE IT!! :D i eventually want to get into some type of motion graphics job, but i'm starting to lean towards just specialising in Shake...

BTW, this post brings me over to the ranks of 68040! :D yay! and thanks Doctor Q. ;)

yeah, some very cool partical effects with that text there...

i've never used Livetype, so i can't speak about that, but i'm sure there's no simple way to do that in Shake, unless it was with a plug-in that i don't know about.

it could also have been done in After Effects, with a plug-in, or without, albeit with much greater difficulty.

or it might even have been done in a 3D app?...

i have no idea really, but it was probably very complicated. :p

and not to post without a link, here's one: www.tamaandco.com
not really 'motion graphics' it's a short film, an animation called "A Tiny Tiney". also, they've gone over their bandwidth ATM, so you've got to keep checking back.

and thanks for that link ART5000, looks like a cool site. :D any other sites that you want to share? :D

Lightwave 3D

poicking up lightwave 3d 8

sould be able to do some cool **** with it

any reels done on Lightwave 3D 8

congrats on getting Lightwave! :D should indeed be able to do some very cool stuff...

but why did you choose Lightwave? not that you made a bad choice, but i'm just curious what made you go with Lightwave over other 3D software? and you'll be running it on a Mac, right...?

well for some examples of other work done in LW, check out the community section at Newtek Europe: http://www.newtek-europe.com/uk/community/lightwave/index.html

a couple of my favourites there:

Partizan Midi-Minuit - 7-Up ads - feat. Fido Dido. :D

Mark Wilson - i think he worked on the Offspring-Hit That music vid? well i love that vid, so i have to give him a mention. :)

wow, more great links! :D

that's a good little clip over at Honda.co.uk > http://multimedia.honda-eu.com/diesel/300k.swf

xplsv looks like one to keep an eye on as well. i love sites like those...

and check out the reels over at Mikros Image > http://www.mikrosimage.fr/ref_bd.asp
they're french, but still some good stuff there.

http://www.studiopendulum.com/ > another studio. i think they're fairly new, recently formed. check out their latest short - Arrest Assured. not out yet, hopefully it'll be on their site after it finishes at the festivals. some production clips in the Arrest Assured site as well.

and not quite motion graphics, but the guys responsible for Red Vs Blue (that awesome series based on Halo, the game) have started a new series "The Strangerhood" based on the Sims 2. there's a trailer out now. if it's anything like R vs B, this should be great. :D

i just came accross a couple more sites, post & VFX studios they look to be...

http://www.fmrocks.com/ - FM Rocks. commercials, music videos, etc.

http://www.minteditorial.com/ - Mint. they just completed work on Britney Spears "perogative". (no, i haven't seen that clip, i'm not really into Britney... i just an inteview with Mint about it.) VFX, Design, and also lots of artist reels in there.

a couple of new ads.

from davidandgoliath, Los Angeles - Kia
http://www.syflex.biz/gallery_method.html
QuickTime of the ad provided on that page.

and new from The Mill, Hutchinson "3" - Jellyfish
http://www.mill.co.uk/engage_search_articles.php?id=1569
i just love this one. :D

if you want to save that Jellyfish clip, just right-click once it's loaded, and 'save as QuickTime movie' and it'll show the file name as 'playclip.php' or similar. just save it as 'jellyfish.mov', and there you go. ;) just for those who didn't know that...

edit>> also check The Mill front page for more updates.
