Help connecting old white macbook to TV

I've tried to follow the advice earlier but I've got so confused.
I've got an old mac - its from around 2005 white macbook.
I've got a new 32" HD ready Alba tv with DVD

I bought the Mini Dvi port to Vga adapter

then i got an hdmi male to dvi-d lead

but then i realised i needed something else so Ive got DvI0D female to VGA male convertor adapter.

It all connects up but my tv can't seem to find it.
I got to HDMI setting and they say no connected to a pc

what can I do?

The setup that you have will not work because VGA is an analog signal, while HDMI is a Digital signal. When your computer outputs mini-DVI, it outputs both Digital and analog signals, but when you use the adapter that goes to VGA, it blocks out the digital signal from continuing. This stops the HDMI from finding a signal (since there is none!) which is why your TV doesn't see a signal.

To fix this, you have a couple different options:

1. Buy a mini-dvi to hdmi (female) adapter and plugging your hdmi cable into that.
2. Buying a VGA cable to connect to the TV (if your television supports VGA input)

Good luck!

Questions about Mac to TV

I have not seen my question asked on here, so hopefully someone will be able to help! I am running Mac OS X Lion 10.7.3. Prior to updating to Lion I was able to watch movies and TV in full screen on my TV. But now, seems like due to the page slide that Lion does, whenever I attempt to do full screen on the TV it moves the TV/movie back to the macbook. Any ideas on how to solve this??

Still not working.

I have done everything these threads suggest and still no picture on my tv. I have 14 month old macbook pro connected to a brand new Panasonic tv via Thunderbolt adaptor and hdmi cable and input set on hdmi 3 which is the socket the cable goes to. Nothing. Please help.
