What do you think is the best way to secure an iPhone X on the first day it's released. I know obviously pre ordering on October 27th but does anyone have any helpful tips? Thanks

The title of your thread seems like a perfect idea for a new HowToBasic video. Sorry for the digression - I understand I'm not really contributing here.

I'm worried about this for this year. I paid for my 7 Plus outright last year, but this year I want to get on the IUP so that I don't have to go through the hassle of selling every year because lately I haven't been making enough money to justify the hassle.

Having never done it I am worried that it is going to slow me down enough to push me out of the launch day window.

A lot of good info here. It's going to be tight, me thinks.

I want to order via the Apple monthly payment route, but I think buying outright will be quicker.

Know exactly what you want.

Don't be humming and ahh'ing at checkout deciding what colour and storage size you want.

I'm buying it outright, but will use my Barclaycard Visa with Apple Rewards, which offers 18-month interest-free financing on Apple products priced over $999. Not all that different from the 24 month Apple Payments option and no need to have them run my credit.

hold the presses!!!!

just learned that the pre orders moved from the 27th 12.01 to the 28th of October 12.01

just wanted it to share with you, so you all can change the pre order date in your calendar app

Set up camp at the nearest Apple store and wait, starting RIGHT NOW!!!

Didn't check to see if this was suggested already, but I am certain I'm not the only one that's thinking this way.

Me, I'm going to roll the dice on Oct. 27th! After the hell I went through with the iPhone 7+ last year, I told myself I would NOT do this again... *sigh* ... although it was mainly my fault!! In addition to the Apple site going down, AT&T had me as 1 day past due, which forced me to go to the AT&T site to pay the bill THEN back to the Apple Store (not app) to order the phone, I still managed to get it 5 days after launch! Had both my iPad and MacBook going at 3:14AM, my wife thought I was a lunatic!!

[doublepost=1505933036][/doublepost]*newbie here* Can someone explain the pre-approve step? After preapproval, are you able to select the phone and have it in the bag waiting for checkout at midnight????

I'm contemplating paying in full vs. doing the pre-approved process for the IUP, not sure if that shaves some seconds off from ordering?

Carrier app. Works faster than the Apple app as it connects/approves your account info right away. Apple app needs to connect to your carriers servers.
Is the carrier shipments more likely to be pushed out vs the apple store shipments?

Very good question, does anybody have an answer to this?

Im wouldn't bet on the App. This years 8 order, the Att site was right on time and the App Store on my phone was 1-2 minutes late.

I am amazed at the lack of patience, LOL. I thought it was a virtue.

Wanting a phone this year is impatient? You do know how long of a potential wait there might be, don't you?

This is not impatience. Impatience will come though. That happens when I follow around the UPS guy :)

Some advise is this:

Try to have internet options in different regions or at a minimum wireless and cellular data on different devices to try.

I feel Apple uses a caching mechanism similar to cloudflare for their servers, not your local computer / connection where it takes time for their updates to propagate.

Every time I missed out, it was because their site didn't show the updated products for me until several minutes after pre orders went live.

I am in same boat. I keep losing money so decided Apple upgrade. But from what I see once you select Apple upgrade it locks you in for the shipping date and as long as you approved you still in line to get that phone
