But T-mobile is the only version that allows you to not input carrier info therefore yes completely unlocked for GSM carriers only, unless you buy outright in store to get the CDMA/GSM versions.

Do you think that it would be possible to complete the checkout quicker by opting for the T-Mobile version, since it doesn't require carrier info? I already have my carrier info (AT&T) stored in the app and would be curious to know if Apple will ping them during the checkout process.

Probably, but I usually just do carrier cause I don't want any hiccups even tho I do pay outright as well. I've honestly never had a problem. But yea if you do buy the T-mobile outright it may save you a few seconds which may be valuable in this case.

There's a favorite. It's a heart I believe.

I dont believe you can favorite the X yet, has anyone had any success? It wont let me do it.

Oh I see, you can do it but only if you are choosing to buy the phone outright, it does not work on the Apple Upgrade Program as of right now atleast, maybe once the pre-approvals hit.

Yea there’s a heart in the top right corner after you pick ALL configuration options right before what would be the payment screen if it was available.

Yup, found it. Only works for paying in full, not for the upgrade program, not yet at least.

Exactly, however if you pay in full when you purchase then the phone comes unlocked as always. So essentially it's the same thing.
So you're telling me that if I have to select a carrier (it'd be Verizon in my case), put in my plan number etc.; if I pay for the phone outright, it'd be no different than me selecting the no-SIM option? The phone would be unlocked and available for any carrier?

Yes. Verizon phone is always a factory unlocked when buying it from Apple.

Thank you. I've been having trouble figuring that one out.

Any idea if things are any different when purchasing outright (full retail price) through Verizon's website?
