Probably, but I usually just do carrier cause I don't want any hiccups even tho I do pay outright as well. I've honestly never had a problem. But yea if you do buy the T-mobile outright it may save you a few seconds which may be valuable in this case.

Sim free will not be available for the X phone so yes, you do need to choose a carrier version.
Exactly, however if you pay in full when you purchase then the phone comes unlocked as always. So essentially it's the same thing.

That’s possible bc I’m paying in full, but you can favorite it and change payment at the the time of purchase I believe.

Yes. Verizon phone is always a factory unlocked when buying it from Apple.

All Verizon phones that have 4G LTE are unlocked even when bought from Verizon.
