I'd keep hope. Mine says shipped but def has not left the building yet. There is def still time to get it on the truckSame here.
You won't have to turn in your old phone.
ATT will send you a shipping label and if they don't get the phone after 14 days of iPhone X activation they'll charge you for the rest of the old one; but I'm not sure about the rest.
I'm hoping its just:
"Hi I here for my iPhone X"
sign some ATT/BB paperwork, get phone.
"Bye"
Just a tip to anyone interested - I’ve noticed today that as my order status gets updated for each stage, the app actually reflects it in the purchase history tab before the website does or even the order details in the app.
Might be worth checking for some of you although, YMMV. Good luck frens! I had 10 minutes after midnight 256 space gray and my status just updated to shipped.

Guy at store didnt have it earlier at 1pm but as of 3:30 it is being prepared so i think it just got in from the truck! Can't wait to have the iPhone in my hands! Tired of my iPhone 6 plus charge port, can't even use while charging!
My nov 10th in store pickup changed to “Order received” ... is this a good sign for tomorrow or no? lol

It could be. Mine was preorder till about 3:20 then changed to order recieved then now preparing. Keep eye on it and if anything call the store and he can go back and look at name on phones there. Mine he went back and checked and then said he has a truck coming in later to drop off more. Good luck!!

Because I too just want to walk out of the store with my phone still in shrink-wrap.
Just came back from Best Buy, Yorba Linda.
I had to activate a new Verizon account over the phone. Went through 3 people and 45 min with Verizon until I was able to have a new line again. Took forever.
Anyways, I don't think I will get mine on launch tomorrow. Might as well be a pessimist. Keep expectations low. My pre-order # got pushed back to #34 but the guy could try to activate it when I was still on #17.
I'm not going to lie, the space gray 8 looks HOT! I scoffed at the space gray X looking similar but it looks like a throwback of the 4 series! A jet black 7 and sg 8 were next to each other and liked the 8 more.
The BB dude told me the sg X has a longer waiting period up to Dec 15. My silver X is only up to Nov 15. I don't blame anyone getting space gray X. It really does match the sg Apple Watch.
I was 110% sure on silver X until I saw that sg 8. If only we got to see both on display in person and not judge it off videos and photos. It's like the person who isn't photogenic but looks way better in real life!
Jb 7 shows more smudges and scratches than sg 8. If only sg X had silver banding to make it look like the 2G but same black rear, it would be perfect.
I'm #17 and #34. The guy told me they will start calling tomorrow once their stock is in. Maybe around the time they are open. They give them 8 days to pick it up. I can't just skip passed people before me.
He did say they do have a good number in stock that first weekend. At least 20. So if my #17 can punch through tomorrow for activation as installments, then I'm good. If I'm stuck on #34, c'est la vie!
I had to do a pre-order redo because that was based on full sum before BB rid of it. So I got pushed back and had to do the ordeal of calling Verizon to reactivate my old number. But I got a newer # to make it faster.

What are you talking about. If you ordered online they don't have specific order #'s. You either preordered in time or not, there is no specific # on your order.
My store called to set a appointment for when I come in. I guess a lot of people will be at store, they want to make sure the people who preordered get their phones the quickest. I made online for opening tomorrow.
Maybe they made an appointment to activate you're phone if you paid in installments? I paid in full so I should be in and out
