I wasn’t.
Tip for those picking up the online pre-order. Go to the usual in-store pick up area, not the mobile phone area of the store. After you get your phone you can go over to Mobile and have them set it up if you don't want to.
Damn phone only came with 7% battery left!
Submitted that request to Citi this morning. Wanted to ensure I was actually getting it first.I wonder if your Credit Card that offers price difference protection will cover this...Hmmm!
It’s not unlocked AT ALL. It locks to the first sim, even tho it’s the same model number as the unlocked one, believe meMade it out of BB. They didn’t open it or anything. Just let me pick it up and leave which was awesome.
I’m on AT&T and when they brought it out they broth a SIM card with it which I found weird. I assume the AT&T model would have had it in there already. But I also got a little excited. Am I getting an unlocked device?
Got out to the car and they did give me a model a1865 instead of the expected a1901.
I’m pretty stoked. Unfortunately I don’t have a VZW nanoSIM at home because if try that first thing. My fear is that if I stick an AT&T sim in to it that it will lock to AT&T (or T-Mobile because I have a TMo sim I can use).
Regardless - even if it does lock I still get the broadcom modem and Verizon/Sprint compatibility.

It’s a fact. Best Buy phones areWhere you getting this info? Everywhere I’ve read it’s the unlocked version. They even advertise it as unlocked.
Did Walmart have 256?Walked into my walmart 2 miles away which actually has 6 available. Not one other person in the 30 min i was there asked about the x. I walked out with the one I wanted and then best buy charged my card for the one I ordered from them lol so I'm sure that will be shipping and be here Monday/Tuesday. So now I need to decide if I want to keep the other one for one of my kids or send it back. It's a damn expensive phone to give to the kids though. I may just walk it back into best buy next week and get it off my att plan.

Universal but they lock to the first sim. NOT UNLOCKED

That's correct. Don't know what goober is talking about. What? Everything I’ve read says if you put a Verizon SIM in first it fully unlocks the full price iPhone X. Is this not true?

So let me put this to rest.
It seems like BB must sell the a1865 model for everyone so that they don’t have to carry dozens of different phones.
It does not lock to the first carrier you put the SIM card in for. It does, however, assign the phone to the locking policy of the carrier when you activate it the first time.
So if yo just turn it on fresh out of the box you can swap SIMs all you want. It will work fine. But as soon as you select your language and do the activation on the device the first time your phone is assigned that carriers locking policy.
Which means if you put a VZW sim in there the first time and do the activation you’re good because Verizon is not allowed to lock their devices.
But if you put an AT&T SIM in, then a TMo SIM and do the activation, then turn it off and put the AT&T SIM back in you will find that the phone is locked to TMo.
I also had to return my iPhone X because it won’t work on AT&T now.
Knowing now that BB will always sell the most compatible model I’ll probably just buy from them from now on. Need to keep a VZW sim handy for that stuff though.
Yes you need to go a few steps in to the process, past picking the wifi network and get to “activate your iPhone” it seems to apply the SIM policy at that step.So bottom line is put the VZW SIM in there, turn on and activate iPhone, and then it’s fully unlocked forever, no matter what?

Doesn’t need to be active I’m pretty sure. Just has to do the activation when connected to WiFiMight be dumb to ask but you'd need an active Verizon Sim card right? Buy a prepaid and take the loss in money spent on the prepaid sim?
Mine was in a mini-cage by the mobile area, not the main pick up area.
In-store claimed they were completely unable to price match and had to do it over the phone. Im sceptical but didnt want to argue and will just go through my credit company if they refuse over the phone.

Will let you know.
Do we have to find a Verizon simcard by ourselves? Anybody knows how much does it cost without getting the plan itself? So bottom line is put the VZW SIM in there, turn on and activate iPhone, and then it’s fully unlocked forever, no matter what?
