My new order came in to stock today so I went to pick it up. Luckily my Verizon sim I ordered off eBay came in yesterday.

I went to pick it up and they basically told me not to **** it up this time but they still let me take it and do self-activation.

Got to my car and popped the Verizon sim in and did the initial activation. Everything went fine.

Popped out the VZW sim and put my AT&T one in. Worked great. Popped my TMo sim in. Worked as well.

Very happy.

So I just opened a chat on bestbuy.com to try my luck at a price match request and after politely asking SUCCESS!!! Gave them my order # and asked to price match Apple.com. They asked for my zipcode (I suppose to check if there are B&M Apple stores nearby) and after a 10 minute hold came back and approved it. The credit is already showing in my order details.

Did you see the credit in your order details in instant?
I also tried via chat and he said it is eligible for price match, but he only gave me a reference number and ask me to contact them after 3-5 days if I haven't seen the refund yet.

They confirmed the refund amount in the chat and gave me a reference number. Within a minute I received an email confirming a credit was being applied and then a few minutes later logged into my best buy account and saw the refund listed in the details of the order in my history. Nothing on my credit card yet, but I assume that will take a few days.

wow time to get at bby chat

amazing... wish me luck
[doublepost=1510242633][/doublepost]new story for today, bby chat said they arent allowed to price match on chat anymore.
That’s why they will be out of business in 12 to 24 months.

I tried to get a price match adjustment through Best Buy chat and got the run-around. After 10 minutes of Q&A I was told I needed to be handed off to a "mobile specialist" to handle my request. Then I got a message saying all support people were busy and to try again later.

I submitted a price match request through Mastercard and will see how that goes.

I was told that last week when I originally tried, but had no issues whatsoever last night. The rep I got didn't even ask for my zip code, just asked me if the difference I was trying to match was $100 which I said yes.

Might just be hit or miss depending on which customer service rep you happen to get? For others it might be worth trying again.

headed to the nearest bby, was told they dont price match items bought online through bestbuy.com

asked them why the CS rep on bestbuy.com told me to head to the store since they cant price match over chat

proceeds to tell me the rep just didnt want to help me, i ask how do i know you are not trying to help me? and ask if they cant do it online, and you cant do it in store, who can do it for me?

gives me blank look and call customer service

calls customer service and told that they dont price match iphone x

told them people are price matching them online with proof

told me the reps are breaking company policy

tl;dr no price match

Yeah same story... I just did a follow-up since I haven't seen anything on my order details after few days and was told exactly the same - go to the store, or call, blah blah blah... Well, time to call my credit card company then

Successful price match via chat. Thanks!
What the...
I've tried to chat with two different agents today and still got the same answer
You're so lucky
I'm going to keep trying chatting with different agents. Unfortunately I used Discover card and claiming a price match with them is a bit complicated and takes very long time

Anybody use non-activated, empty Verizon sim card to activate the iPhone?
I tried mine and it seems working through the initial setup but after that I keep getting the message

"iPhone is not activated - Contact your carrier at 1 (800) 922-0204 from another phone if this problem continues to occur"

Haven't tried to call that number yet but I assume that I need to buy for a prepaid plan which I don't want to. Any ideas?

Did you connect to a wifi network before activating?

You didn't get any iPhone not activated message a while after that? I was also able to do the initial activation but got that message

Also did you get "Verizon" beside the signal bar when you pull the control center? Mine just showing the signal bars.

You mean when you try using a Verizon SIM that doesn’t have service attached to it?

Sure - that’s normal. You also won’t see LTE connectivity with a “dead” Verizon SIM.

Make sense.
Also an update - I decided to re-do the whole thing and set it up using iTunes, and I got the message "Congratulations, your iPhone has been unlocked" in iTunes. Decided to just believe on it and sure enough, tried inserting both T-Mobile and AT&T sim card and both works flawlessly.

I impulsed ordered the X today after dithering yes/no over several days. I'm transferring to ATT as part of this from Verizon. At this point, I don't really care that it will be locked to ATT since by the time I need it unlocked (September 2018), I'll likely have got tired of making payments and paid it off so I can unlock it then :)

Since Bestbuy isn't allowing pay in full at this time, I signed up for the device payments. I could have paid in full by ordering through apple.com or ATT, but then I don't get the model that supports CDMA.

Ordering through Apple now allows you to "setup later" so you don't have to enter the carrier information.
It could save you at least a hard pull from your credit
