Well i got my HighEnd MBP Retina 15" with the 750M Geforce and its terrible with battlefield 4. I also saw that the 331.40 drivers (331.65 out by now) won't install on Bootcamp - it sais the system is incompatible. I researched a bit and saw that Apple changed the driver so heavily that its impossible to download a fresh one from NVIDIA. Also tried to remove the Apple provided installer completely but it's also not working ... Would be awesome if anyone could provide some help.

Cheers.

Hey can you try to install this modified version of the 331.65 drivers, and let us know if it works?

You have to get the modified .inf I think.

yes me neither ... it would be awesome if someone with more knowledge of those inf things can help. Just replaceing the inf file in the extracted driver files from nvidia is not working. I get the same system incompability error... tried the 331.65 and 331.40 versions

Apparently someone had figured it out. Try this! http://sleep.dontexist.com/2013/11/01/installing-the-latest-nvidia-drivers-on-late-2013-retina-macbook-pro/

Damn! Worked like a charm! it's supersmooth at 1360x768 and 50/50 between medium and high on the settings. No Antialiasin Deferred + Post and also no Ambient Occlusion. I'm sure I could set some of that on and some other settings higher but I didn't have time to test it all out.

So basically, wait for the driver updates and go from there. The game just recently came out and it's pretty hard to play it on some top spec'd PC's as of now.

I'm sure the MBP can play BF4 with respectable framerates, only question is when that will happen?

Anyone with a 2.3Ghz high-end 15 inch MBP, could you post and tell us your results with BF4?

Ah the joy of non-console games and your GPU being inadequate 12 months later  . I don't advocate building a 1000000fps nerd machine with 999999 Nvidia Titans SLI'd but Apple needs to offer something like a GT 660/680 mobile...I know Apple isn't a gaming laptop but it is graphics laptop. Well I'm happy with older games like COD4 and Black Ops maxed out at 2.8K on my 650M :D

bf4 works well on 2012 rMBP

So many of you will have tried to play the bf4 beta and would have been horrified by the performance.
However with the final release and the latest Nvidia drivers the performance is just fine
I havnt seen exactly how far I can push it, but at 1270x720 on low, medium and even high settings (without AA etc) the game runs at 60fps. Now as awesome as the graphics are in this game, for me its all about performance so 60fps is all you need! Even in low in 720p the game looks fantastic
you can get 50-55 in 900p.
So to all you out there who were told that Macs cant play games... this is the top of the range AAA title running at 60fps. If you want amazing graphics, I would recommend a gaming PC or a next-gen console

My rig:
rMBP 2012, 2.3Ghz i7 quad core 8GBs DDR3 RAM, Nvidia GT 650m 1GB DDR5

When you play the game at 1080p, can you squeeze out 30-35 fps? Because coming from consoles, I've developed a tolerance for 30 fps gaming.

----------

Will BF4 be available to OS X natively?

Probably not anytime soon.

Can anyone run bf4 with medium settings with different resolutions and check framerate on multiplayer?

On rMBP GT750M..

Pretty please :D

Oh! Gonna try that when I get home. Cheers!

I've updated the post with a pre edited file, check the "Edit2" section of the post :)

If you want to display frame rates in BF4 enter the following in the game console (for me to activate it I press the "§" button, the one left of the "1", but it might vary):
"perfoverlay.drawfps 1"

It seems as the current installer, 331.82, is able to detect the card out of the box and thus no "fix" is needed. I had an issue when doing the install, but others seems to be more successful.

Also, updated the blog with a new domain, webhop etc should sort the pointing from the old to the new one: sleepdontexist.com

Cheers!
