was holding out the 1st gen mini, but i guess i'll update/jailbreak tomorrow after work.

I say we have another week or two before Apple Pushes an update, if history repeats itself, iOS 6.1.2 jailbreak was patched one month after the jailbreak came out.

Still people shouldn't wait. Best thing to do is backup, restore, and jailbreak so you don't run in to any issues in the future that might cause you to have to restore.

I've been playing around with iOS7 on an iPad 3 as an Apple Store somehow updated the iOS and locked me out of it.:rolleyes: But that's another issue...

Needless to say, I haven't been impressed too much with iOS7. And I have noticed the dizzying factor.

Applejuiced, you seriously think I should update my other devices that are running 6.1.2??? For what reasons?

Many Thanks!

BigBoss Advises Jailbreakers to Get on iOS 7.0.4 Soon!

Is that a feature in iOS 7 with no jailbreak? Is it like Zephyr?

Yes it is a feature in iOS 7 with no jailbreak. No it is not like Zephyr. It is like SwipeBack by Ryan Petrich.

BigBoss, of the BigBoss Cydia Repository, is warning jailbreakers who have yet to update to iOS 7.0.4 to update to the firmware before Apple releases an update blocking the evasi0n jailbreak.

Now that iOS7 has been jailbroken, it is advised that anyone that ever wants to be on iOS 7.0.4 *ever* gets there very soon. Speculation is that Apple will release an update soon and when that occurs, they will stop signing 7.0.4. Users will have a limited time window to get onto iOS7 and be jailbreakable. Further, reports are that evasi0n only runs on a freshly restored 7.0.4 rather than one a device that got to 7.0.4 via “software update”. So if you have not done so yet, now is the time to backup your device in iTunes, restore it to a fresh 7.0.4, and keep it on ios7.0.4.

And he's right IMO.
Update quick if you guys want to make sure you take advantage of the new JB. I was going to hold off a week or so more but I don't want to kick myself in the rear if a new ios version comes out and I'm stuck left behind on 6.1

Do you think it's a bad idea to upgrade the iPhone 4 to ios 7? I'm running 6.1.2 JB and works fine. I'm worried ios7 might make the phone slow.

Correct, no jailbreak required. It's stock. No zephyr is used to switch betwee apps and open the task switcher. This allows you to swipe back and forth inside your app. Like SwipeNav or SwipeBack I think.

I just jailbroke mine to 7.04 last night from 6.1.3 on an iphone 4. So far things seem to be running a tad faster than before. Granted I dont have the same number of apps as before but overall there doesnt seem to be much slow down.

One thing I am very curious about....this jailbreak uses Apple's own WWDC app....couldn't they just remove it/patch it and make the JB functional?

Looks like I'm out on this one. I've got too much installed and an interface I like too much to play the wait for tweak updates game (some of which assuredly won't happen).

I've mentioned several times that what I have using tweak and apps is equivalent to iOS 7 or somewhat better. And, on top of that I was on Windows Mobile 6.1 Pro for 3 years with no change, so I'm used to being on a specific OS for a long time. Everything is set up the way I want it and I just don't feel like going through all of that - again.

Maybe when the iPhone 6 gets here. Or maybe if they manage to JB 7.1 and all my tweaks will have been updated. We'll see.

Have fun guys, but I won't be going with you on this one.

I, for one, like the new iOS redesign, maybe it is because im younger and bright colors dont blind me, but it is refreshing. I jailbroke in the past because iOS looked so boring, i wish i could theme my mac the same way.

I'm sure you'll regret that decesion...

I may. But I doubt it. I got Sense 2.1 w/Weather all set up on my old WinMo phone some time in 2010. Once I get things set up and working I tend not to like changing it. Was using that exactly as I set it up, except for the occasional wallpaper change, for two years.

I really like what I have now. And should I have to restore to stock at some point, well by all accounts stock iOS 7 has a lot of features that a lot of people said they didn't want or need to jailbreak (based on the reports here). And I'm up for the iPhone 6 this year. Depending on rumor that's either mid year or later. So, I really only have less than a year on this iPhone left.

I have my 5s on 7.0.4, but I've not really wanted to update my 5 from 6.1.2. Both are j/b at the moment.

Is there any real reason to update the 5 from 6.1.2?

I like the look of IOS 7 too. I've not seen it outside of pictures and videos until I updated my iPad 4 last night. I'm pleasantly surprise because I expected to look bad with some of the complaints I read about it on this board. I also like the feel of it.

@eyoungren - it was a hard decision updating from 6.1.2 to 7.0.4 since I had I iPad laid out exactly how I wanted on 6.1.2. So far no regret, I almost have it back the way it was before. There is still small issues, like GuizmoVPN is not working and I can't watch my UK shows via XBMC yet but I hope it's updated soon. Everything else, I'm willing to wait for.

Agreed. Many apps already require iOS 7, and within a few months, most apps will.

Besides, I personally thought iOS6 was a general downgrade from iOS5 (mostly due to Apple Maps, which I still think sucks), but iOS7 is a clear improvement on the 4S, 5.

Specifically: Facetime Audio (HD Audio is pretty unbelievable quality, and it's free for international use.). Better animations (I prefer 'reduce motion'), Control Center.

I am also a big fan of Touch ID, but obviously that is a 5S feature only, and if you have decided not to upgrade hardware, that's not really in the scope of what iOS7 will do for you.

Yeah, I get it. I'm just not willing to wait and I have less than a year in my contract. So, I'd rather enjoy that time using my phone as I finally got it the way I want it. Once I get the iPhone 6, it'll be a new phone and I'll be ready to go through the hassle again.

Everyone has their situation and at least now everyone has a choice.

So, what is the status with blobs on ios 7?
Some time ago I had created a custom ipsw of 6.1.2 with iFaith, so I could reinstall and jailbreak any time I wanted, without worrying about what updates Apple would do.

I'm already running a jailbroken 7.0.4 on my iphone4 (and I'm happy with it) but you never know when something might go wrong. Is it possible to create a custom ipsw now for 7.0.4 with iFaith or a similar tool, so I can reinstall & jailbreak even after Apple's future updates?

Agreed. Many apps already require iOS 7, and within a few months, most apps will.
The only app I had turn on me because of this was My Alarm Clock. The dev didn't bother to mention that the upgrade was iOS 7 only so when I upgraded it, it bombed. When I asked he refused to assist me because I was jailbroken. So, I pulled the last iOS 6. update from my iPhone 3GS and moved it over to my iPhone 5. That's the only app I had issues with (no more).

Yesterday I downloaded the first app I've downloaded in months. The App store gave me the option to use the last iOS 6 version. That may not always be the case, but there's really only four apps I use daily. Facebook, Dolphin, BiteSMS and My Alarm Clock. I am not downloading apps on a daily basis. Maybe one every so many months or so - if I happen to want/need it.

So for me, I already have all the apps I need. And the iPhone 6 comes this year.

I had iOS 5 on my iPhone 3GS. iOS 6 is much better. And with Luna, I have a complete DND option, not the DND only works when the phone is locked thing.

Specifically: Facetime Audio (HD Audio is pretty unbelievable quality, and it's free for international use.). Better animations (I prefer 'reduce motion'), Control Center.
Not really using Facetime, but it works fine when I do. I don't need animations and I have NCSettings and the Notification Center. I also have Activator.

I am also a big fan of Touch ID, but obviously that is a 5S feature only, and if you have decided not to upgrade hardware, that's not really in the scope of what iOS7 will do for you.
I didn't get the 5s because TouchID, while great, was not a "must-have" feature for me. I have the PIN lock set and have no problems having to enter it each time I need to unlock. Never know when your phone may be stolen.

I also have iCaughtU Pro and Find My iPhone is on. So, while TouchID is cool I'm already using some form of security.

I guess I'm going to just cave in and update my cdma 5 to 7.0.4.

Best way, download the ipsw file, and restore that way? Or just do it via itunes on the computer?
