I don’t know even if he uses Office apps. The guy reads like 7 books a day and gives 3 interviews a week. Probably only has time for email and SMS and an assistant does everything else. Assistant probably playing his Xbox too 😝

Nothing says he does or does not use Office apps, the guy maybe reading 7 book a day and gives 3 interviews a week, etc yet I still don't understanding and make a connection why his phone preference and OS is a headline on MacRumors. What next maybe more articles on what other TV personalities, celebs, athletes, etc use or prefer for their phoneOS preference.

Funny seeing all the triggered apple people. But on the serious note when is apple going to upgrade multitasking.

doesn't even make sense.

  • Set Bing as default search engine? - no problem
  • Make Outlook default e-mail app? - no problem
  • Make mobile edge (is that a thing?) default browser? - no problem
  • Integrate one drive? - no problem
I would say the Office Apps are also far better optimised and integrated on iOS than Android.

Clearly he is just too lazy or hasn't used an iPhone much
You love using your iphone we get it. Some of us prefer using the android os too. Our iOS is there to catch up. I totally agree and understand his view. Doing same

i was not sure if that was a joke, Bill Gates getting Alzheimer’s, or he is living in a parallel universe.

Gates said. "Because I want to keep track of everything...."

"Some of the Android manufacturers pre-install Microsoft software in a way that makes it easy for me,"

it is actually sad that people that are seen as tech giants say stupid things...

I don't see why Bill's choice should be a problem or offensive to iPhone users. One way or the other y'all got a reason for choosing Android or iOS devices and there's nothing wrong with that at all. Let's just forget he's the founder of Microsoft, he's a human! And every one of us unfortunately likes a thing over another for a reason we sometimes don't understand. He made his choice so should you. All the best guys🚴

Apple fanboys here apparently have no idea what Gates is saying...

"just install an app on iPhone"?

bruh, that's not the case. Have you all even ever used Android phones lately?

even the same apps provide different usability on each OS, and in most cases Android provides more flexibility and user friendly customizations.

The iPhone is packed with excellent apps from the start , his comments are daft

Plus the amazing App Store . Sound like sour grapes to me ...

Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates this week participated in his first meeting on Clubhouse, the increasingly popular invite-only conversation app, where he fielded a range of questions as part of an ongoing book tour.

Gates was interviewed by journalist Andrew Ross Sorkin, and given that the Clubhouse app is currently only available on iOS, naturally one of the questions that came up was whether Gates regularly uses an iPhone and if he prefers iOS over Android.
Clubhouse co-founder Paul Davison, who was also in the room briefly, told Gates and Sorkin that an Android version of the app is the "top feature" that they're currently working towards and are most excited about.

In a 2019 interview, Gates admitted that Microsoft losing to Android as the standard non-Apple phone platform was "one of one of the greatest mistakes of all time" for the Redmond-based company.

In fairness to Gates, it was Steve Ballmer who served as Microsoft's CEO between 2000 and 2014. Ballmer infamously laughed off the iPhone, but Apple had the last laugh, as Windows Phone failed to ever gain any significant market share among mobile operating systems and was ultimately abandoned.

During the Clubhouse meeting, Gates admitted he had an uneasy relationship with Steve Jobs, but called the former Apple CEO "unique." Other topics that came up in Wednesday's online discussion included the global health crisis, climate change, and Gates' new book "How to Avoid a Climate Disaster." The full interview is available on YouTube.

Microsoft is making their own android device. So far only one model, but sure there is more to come. However im not sure if it is a real microsoft product or a microsoft sticker on a OEM vendor. I guess that Samsung is involved since microsoft is also selling Samsung devices.

"Some of the Android manufacturers pre-install Microsoft software in a way that makes it easy for me,"

Uh. You used to be a software developer and installing software via the App Store is… too hard for you?

I just have no idea what that means.
He uses a brand new burner phone every day, so he has much more set-up woes than the rest of us.

With respect to Microsoft losing out to Android as the none Apple system (or at least a very viable third option), to this day I don’t understand how first Nokia, then Microsoft totally lost their $%1t and then proceeded to **** everything up over the iPhone launch. As a former HTC Tytn user, I can confirm Microsoft had a perfectly capable operating system for which multi touch could have been developed. They threw it away and replaced it (several times)!

Anyway, I find iPhone and Android pretty much interchangeable on a functional level. One respects my privacy more than the other.

Pretty sad watching people disparage a man who helped start the home computing and phone-as-computer revolutions and donated billions of dollars to charity, all because they don't like his choice of phone.
Yep, absolutely. Ironic how many on here proclaim not to care about what he thinks or stands for...but clearly do!

No more sad than those commenting on such an irrelevant issue. He prefers one phone over another ffs?

Who cares what Microsoft Bill Gates thinks when the facts say otherwise?

Just another data point on why Gates should be ignored on almost everything except when less prejudiced people than he make decisions/recommendations on how to disburse his $$$$ for good purposes, $$$$ which this Robber Baron's illegal actions amassed in the past.

He is just Carnegie without the obvious dead miners, steelworkers, and other 'poor people' who can be actually traced to his corporate life.

He is MARKETING Android with obviously inaccurate assertions, and his 'opinion' is a deliberate attempt to harm other products that compete with Android trash.

I use Android, now, but will soon ditch it for a competitor, for ACTUALLY GOOD REASONS like VALUE, which Gates has no need to even think about because he is beyond worrying about especially Value given his insane $$$$.

"They're more flexible about how the software connects up with the operating system."

That's true, yes, but it would've been nice to see actual examples of how he uses this.

Considering Gates has an army of PAs who do all this for him, a gaggle of technical advisors who set up his IT suite to meet his personal and financial needs, and enough $$$$ to buy a new phone every day, his opinion is irrelevant to anyone reading this site.

That is the ultimate INSULT that Gates flings in the face of anyone who does not 'agree with him', otherwise, he'd just admit he uses Android because he like to tinker with toys that let him blow them up, which he actually means "blow up in the face of the people I have bought to serve as human shields for my 'playing about'".

Everything he said in that reply was MARKETING.

That is why he is a BILLIONAIRE today, and I think most of the rest of us here are NOT.

It's ALL HE KNOWS. He was a mediocre programmer, contributing a little to BASIC and BASICA on early DOS, and after that was merely an Entrepreneur, or Technical 'Used Car Salesman'.

Bill really needs to go back to writing compilers and stay out of politics, medical remedies, and other non Tech related areas. No surprise about a comment from him as to his slanted view of Apple. Just fade away Bill!!!!!!!!!
I agree. Tim Cook should also stick to Apple and not politics, social issues and health issues.

I'm careful no one will try to force me to use Microsoft software. It's the only software where I need to think about this.

I’d say the real reason is the old Apple / MS rivalry.
