The question is, does it stay on 60fps? I'm doubting it does. Especially in OS X I'm expecting it to drop lower quite often.

Yes, 60fps solid at 1080p, easily, in Windows. I run it at 1440p/60fps solid in Windows with just a few things turned down. In OS X, I have no idea, since it's not out yet.

And you're absolutely certain you're installing the correct type of driver? AMD has separate files for desktop and laptop GPUs.

Desktop

Yes , the mobility and desktop versions both fail to install the driver both DO install the control centre

The beta ones do install the driver, but only the desktop Beta drivers, again the mobility ones only install the control centre.

Only the Desktop Beta drivers have ever installed both Driver and Control centre, and they identify the 6770 as a 6740, desktop GPU (not a mobile one), this is on an 2011 iMac not a macbook.

I am happy using the Windows 8 ATI beta driver, i can play skyrim on ultra with a load of high res texture and city clutter mods with framerates still around 30-40fps, so its doing a good enough job for me, just never been able to get a non-beta driver to install, and im thinking some people might be getting the control centre and THINKING that means they have the ATI driver as well, and that is not necessarily the case, you can have the control centre, but still be on the bootcamp drivers and performance with those is awful.

Since it's Windows I believe you. If you get similar performance in OS X I'd be very surprised (in a good way). Let me know how it goes if you try. :)

Apples fault because THEY control the drivers , unlike the PC where you just grab new drivers to improve performance and add features.

un-optimized drivers are a killer, even under bootcamp ive had to hack beta drivers to get them to install because the bootcamp drivers are awful,

Made the difference between unplayable single and low double digits to 30 + fps for Skyrim on my 6770 21 inch iMac under bootcamp at native resolution, with everything set to high and a load of enchantment mods loaded.

So yeah, its kinda apples fault.

This has nothing to do with the timing of the release of Bioshock Infinite, unless you're suggesting that Apple has resolved the un-optimized drivers problem within the past 2-3 months?

Source Engine on Windows uses DirectX 9.0c. A more relevant comparison would be OpenGL 4.3 vs. DirectX 11.1
I'm fairly certain that they're not using OpenGL 3 or later, just 2.1 if not earlier.

After all, I'm pretty certain they don't use OpenGL 3.0 or later on OS X, due to supporting 10.5 and 10.6.

the trailer's pretty amazing, i hope the whole game is just as good. i'll surely be checking out this game, but first i'll see what other people say about it. learn from others' experiences:rolleyes:
