the hinge on my macbook slightly shuffles left and right and my local genius said he was willing to replace the display. I told him, I appreciate it but it's not worth replacing an $800 display because my hinge is slightly loose. In addition, it has a tiny bleed in the middle only visible in a black background. I'm NOT COMPLAINING, so you definitely DO NOT have the right to bitch and get a new computer from Apple. Trust me, your computer WILL break many times within 3 years (if you have apple care), and if you are polite with the apple store they will gladly give you a new machine.

OP the display crap was well known. You should have done your research.

I have a uMB CE 13"...Any ideas?

Here's an idea:

Since you have a "Collector's Edition" uMb, that must mean it is worth much more than its original value, seeing that it is a collector's edition and all. So you could sell it at a "Collector's Edition" price and just go buy the MBP like everyone else...

Its really funny when most of the forum members agree on something and start throwing jokes on an OP. I think the OP will regret starting this thread for the rest of his/here life. Or would he/she

gaaahaa this threads funny.. cheeky badgers trying to get a sneaky one in on our mighty fine apple!! :) Gotta love his guts for at least suggesting it, although having said that, he hasnt come back, so maybe not then! :-D

Get some tipex and write "Pro" onto it then sell it.

Seriously though, I understand your frustration about the screen. Only thing you can really do is sell it, and pay out the difference to get the new 13" MBP.

I didn't run anywhere; was busy calibrating my new MBP 13"

I got the MB CE for 850$, and I got a buyer on CL for 1000$. The new MBP sells on ebay for 1084$ (after cashback), so I'll be heading that route.

Thanks for the input.

You really should learn grammar.

You said in the same post that you were calibrating ur new Macbook Pro and than towards the end u stated u would be heading that route which meant u hadnt bought it yet.

Yoou should never expect a handout. Buy it like the rest of us.

and i'm guessing they have alot of uMB's sitting around to replace it with, no uMBP for you.....sorry

I can attest. They will give you a unibody macbook. I got a new one yesterday. The build quality is much better than the one that i had from November.

If you read my first post, you will know that I currently have 1 uMB and 1 uMBP. I intend to exchange the uMB to uMBP.

Wow, really friendly forum out here.

You're essentially asking for a free upgrade because you want the newer model and nothing is wrong or has gone wrong with the old one. What do you expect, applause?

Its not a free upgrade. I just wanted a better screen, possibly even a later uMB model which was silently upgraded.

I don't see the reason for the forum to attack me personally (about grammar). You guys are aware that there are non-native English speakers in the world right?

I was not referring to the language, and agree with you there.

What I don't get is you want Apple to foot the bill to upgrade for free. It is a free upgrade if you want to get a newer model in trade for your old one.

Hey all,

I have a uMB CE 13" and I wish to somehow exchange it to a uMBP 13" base model.

Do you think it's possible to bitch to apple about the screen..etc and get them to swap it?

Ok, sounds like you want to exchange your uMB for a uMBP without paying the difference or having a justifiable reason to give Apple. Gotcha.

If you read my first post, you will know that I currently have 1 uMB and 1 uMBP. I intend to exchange the uMB to uMBP.

Oh snap! Your first post must have some invisible type in it (see above), cause I can only see that you have a uMB...

Its not a free upgrade. I just wanted a better screen, possibly even a later uMB model which was silently upgraded.

Oh snap! Again! You wanted a better screen. Understandable, seeing that you already said that. But that's definitely not what you told us you wanted to do. According to your first post, you just wanted Apple to give you a uMBP since you didn't like the screen on the uMB.

Point is, your posts contradict each other, and you want a hand out, so people on here are going to not be so nice to you...

Glad we've cleared this up.

I sold my uMB on ebay and bought a 13 uMBP also. I agree that the display on the first uMB was really bad. I waited this time to see the uMBP in person at the Apple store then sold the old one and bought the new. Very happy the new display is SO MUCH better than the first one I had.:D:D

A swap would be a computer for a computer.. no extra money involved... so you are actually asking for a free upgrade no matter how you want to put it.
FREE = swap
UPGRADE = better screen, silently upgraded

well im sure there are mac forums in you language. And your being "attacked" because you think you can swindle your way into a new MBP because you dont like your old one.

Exactly. You can't expect to be treated well if you come here asking if "bitching" to Apple about no justifiable cause is going to result in a new computer.
