I really doubt money or donations has anything to do with it.
Main thing is the dev that was doing all the work and updates is gone and they're left with nothing.
I really doubt they will ever put out any working updates even after their 7-9 month prediction.

I'm sure it's a big part of it...of course as has been said, maybe they've made enough money and simply do't want to do it anymore.

I don't know where you got your numbers... but there was a poll on here a couple years ago, and it stated that less than 10% of jail broken phone users used BiteSMS... and another study showed that only about 2-3 million iOS devices on the planet are jailbroken... so the raw numbers say only about 200-300k in BiteSMS users...

And then the percentage of those who actually buy a full license is probably even smaller.
Cause with bitesms you get full access to everything without having to pay anything. The only thing the paid license does is remove the small banner ad display when you click into the bitesms messages app.
Not a big deal or annoyance at all.

I've given up on bite at this point. If they intended to make iOS a priority, they would have let us know by now. Given that they have several Android products that they reportedly are still updating as recently as this month, I suspect they're focused on that market instead.

I just bought MessageHeads and am working to configure it to be closer to my liking on my iPad. If it proves stable, I'll add it to the phone as well. It won't do delayed send or many of the other bite features, but at least it has quick compose.

Just look at the purchase page of this app at cydia - there is 7mil downloads/users ;)

I can say I personally have downloaded it over 250 times over the years. (3GS, 4, 4S, 5, 5S, probably 50 times each over the course of upgrades, re-installs, etc).

So if 7,000,000 downloads are similar to mine (and I'd bet they are), it means they had about 28,000 users in their prime days, which I think may be slightly low, but not far off.

During the ios 6 and ios 7 days where they had newer updates every other day and other betas and constant bug fix releases I'd say I downloaded/updated it over 500 times just between the 3-4 devices on my family plan for those years alone:D
