im kinda stuck between irealsms and bite also....

they are very close but i like how irealsms adjusts the font size that you set it to in your regular settings...i think the fonts are too small in bitesms and the original sms app that comes on the phone

You must be blind or dont have a iPhone 4 retina display.

I have two iOS4 devices. With iTunes, these can both share apps I purchase since they're linked to the same account. Is the same possible with BiteSMS, or apps purchased through Cydia in general?

Yes I you link your account to both devices.

It's worth the $8.99 for the privacy(should you choose) alone! I hated leaving my phone on the counter at the house and a text come in and my wife being able to read them if she chose to. Lead to alot if things being blown out of proportion! Now it just shows a text from someone! Cheap price for peace of mind IMO!

I tried BiteSMS on my 3G back in the day. I wish I texted enough to warrant a purchase, because it makes it so much easier. I use BeejiveIM to send free texts and for IM, but unfortunately the QuickReply doesn't work with that. :(

i set password to on but if a message comes across in lockscreen anyone can just tap the message and read it....

Sorry to bump this, but despite some of the other responses, I found that the answer to this is No... at least with regards to BiteSMS. You need to buy a new license for each phone number you use the software with.

Very respectfully, since everyone is entitle to an opinion, just because the licenses apply per phone and not per user, doesn't take away from the app and the value of it. It's a great app with many feature for the price of a maybe a beer on the cool bar. If you got a $300+ phone and pay at least $50/month for service, $9 (one time payment) is a great value for it.

many moons when i bought it it was $4.99 i believe but regardless it's a great app, very convenient and it'll make your texting life a breeze... what i like the best about it is the ease of initiating a SMS plus replying directly from the lockscreen w/o having to unlock the phone..

just get it.

Technically it's possible if you swipe the SIM card of number you use to purchase bitesms to the second phone and select restore from the biteSMS settings.

Thanks for the replies! I ended up buying biteSMS because I loved it so much and I also got the biteSMS to RETINA messaging icon because I don't like the pink icon.

I use SBSettings to hide the BiteSMS icon because I think it's an eyesore too. Whenever I get a text or whatever I use bitesms anyway and since I can open up a quick message with the volume button, I felt it was better to leave the app icon in the dust.

That being said, if there was 1 JB app that I could buy and nothing else, it would 100% definitely be biteSMS. Love it!

This is a great app but Im not sure if I can justify paying 9 bucks for no ads. Are their more options available to me if I pay? What am I missing out on?

Thanks

There's nothing additional if you pay, and the ads are really unobtrusive. But in this case, I felt going the paid versus "free with ads" route was justified--I use this app more than any other on my phone, and it's greatly improved the experience. Well worth making sure the dev gets paid a fair amount in this instance.

Still, it's very nice that they offer the option!

I never said it wasn't worth it, I was just correcting a response I got earlier in the thread that indicated one license could be applied to multiple devices.

My trial license expired today, and I wanted to play with the ad-supported version for awhile to see how annoying it was. It's actually not that bad. I'm not surprised danno1769 doesn't see the value in upgrading, especially if you primarily use QuickReply/QuickCompose, where you never encounter the ad.

That said, the ads annoy me and I'm going to get my license in the next few days. The nice guys at BiteSMS even said they'd refund 50% of a second license if I purchased one for my other device. They develop actively, respond to emails quickly, and their product is great. I don't mind paying the $9.

Can't justify nine whole dollars????? Skip one expensive lunch or cheap dinner....

Jeez!

Thanks, that was helpful

So was your ridiculous "not sure if I can justify paying 9 bucks for no ads" comment.

I still don't get many in the Jailbreak community need to get everything for free. Yo are not paying 9 bucks for no ads. You are paying 9 bucks for a great app!
