Dude, what part of MacRUMORS dont you understand?

Rumors go like this:

"New iPhone may have 3G, all black case, blah blah blah".

Screaming-girl hysteria goes like this:

"OMG! Is the case real? Is it Photoshopped? Site A says it's fake, but site B says it for real!!!"

Summarizing various blog sites remarks about the legitimacy of a photo is neither a rumor nor relevant. Dude.

Indeed. I wouldnt mind getting that case for myself - so long as earth can see my shiny Apple logo. Shame to hide it behind black silicon.

Come on 3G iPhone with black rubber case that doesn't scratch by looking at it too hard and updated keyboard software that isn't a hap-hazard as the current one...... :) PLEEEEZZZZ Apple I know you can do this the right way now that the beta testing it over....

Come on AT&T, give me that sweet data plan that doesn't have me paying $25 more than what i pay currently for the exact same thing.... and bring on the insurance plan so that I can get my phone fixed or replaced for free or virtually nothing like ever other cell phone company.... I know that you can do it AT&T....

your iPhone scratches??? I don't even have a case for mine and never have and I don't have a single scratch on it... Also, how in the world is AT&T planning to charge you $25 more for the same thing? The voice plan remains exactly the same and the unlimited data is $20 (which is less than what they usually charge for unlimited data in my experience).

Also, there's no way AT&T would have insurance on it - it'll be an Apple extended care thing since it's basically a handheld computer.

Black Case for iPhone2

An interesting material which is lightweight, passes RF, and can barely be scratched by a diamond is black zirconia, although it might be a little expensive for this application.

However, presumably the iPod touch will not gain GPS (anytime soon at least), so this R&D isn't wasted. And I'm guessing Apple has made it a sort of modular system, where adding the specific GPS functionality isn't too difficult once the rest of the location-related stuff is in there. If you look at it this way, you could argue that the location-based stuff they've already added supports the idea that we will have GPS sometimes soon (as soon as the hardware becomes battery-friendly enough, I'd guess).

Is this not a US only thing? So yeah, GPS would be great for the rest of the world!

THE 3G IPHONE WILL LOOK THE SAME AS V.1. THERE IS NO REASON FOR APPLE TO CHANGE IT.

It would be an unnecessary increase in cost when the iPhone is only a year old and still slim and sexy (that's what she said).

They're going to sell a boatload of these babies when they arrive. :apple: would be wasting time and money redoing the enclosure for the 3G version.

Most people have noted that they are on the aluminum kick right now. A black iPhone now would be like saying they were going to release an all aluminum iMac in 2002. That just wasn't their thing. They were going with white a few years ago, now they are going with aluminum.

im glad its just a rumor. hoping for the same style but with GPS and more space.

Man, I am glad this is a fake at least thus far. A glossy black back to the phone would be lame, it would show scratches and with all the current rumors about macbooks becoming aluminum, Apple should leave the phone backing aluminum.

IMHO the iphone has a sexy form factor already, I would just like more features on next phone, looks are already there. ;)

Honestly, does the iPhone really need a makeover? 3g, more flash, etc.. that of course makes sense, but cosmetically why are we all so eager to see something different? Just short attention spans and aesthetic A.D.D. ?

;) I think the iPhone design is perfect (except the recessed headphone jack)

I agree except for the chrome bezel. It is distracting from the focal point of the screen and the GUI which is what the iPhone is all about. I hope they make it less intrusive like the darker anodized aluminum border on the iPod Touch, like this...

Apple is indeed releasing a black glossy back on the iphone... BUT black is not the only color.

Well there are all kinds of people in the world, some are more excitable then others and all of them are welcome here. This site is open to rumors and debates about the legitimacy of those rumors. I think you may be on the wrong site.

Thanks for explaining Mac Rumor's mission statement and who is and isn't welcome. I always wondered if I was on the right site.....

I think we are looking for too much detail too early. It's 2 months away from release... We'll know more in a bit. Is it really worth speculating?

People have too much fun with guessing what the next, new iPhone will be. I'll admit it though, it's tough not to get caught up in the iPhone frenzy

Lol? Who are you?

It may not be all that laughable an idea.

The iPods are available in multiple colors and cell phones are becoming available in more and more colors.

So making the iPhone and iPod Touch available in multiple colors strikes me as a logical move Apple could take.
