Why are there more negatives than positives? I think sales are a very positive thing. Even if it is jus 50+ dollars.

I think there are two camps in the negative category. The first camp thinks that Apple should slash everything by 50%. The second camp doesn't like the idea that Apple is discounting at all, because it allows the proles to purchase Apple products. Only elites are supposed to own Apple products.

I got myself an Elgato Eye. £15 off and to be delivered before the 29th November :)confused:), so I guess is going to be today(?).

No. I didn't vote it because I expected a 50% discount. 10% is a bit pathetic, though. I mostly found it negative because of the randomness. Why is the 13" Macbook Air discounted but not the 11" model? I was thinking of getting an 11" model, but now I'll just wait for it to show up in the refurb store. Is $999 some kind of mystical price they can't violate on Macs or something? Would pricing any Mac besides the Mini below that price create some kind of rift in the space-time continuum? Oh yeah, and why wasn't the Mini discounted either?

Apple has always been very conservative about their discounts. Retailers are usually more generous, I was looking at the iPad at 8%, not really.... I will wait for the next one. Guess if I am not going to pay, there will always be others. :D

I was up and at em at 6:00AM this morning and I couldn't believe how many people were at Staples standing in line. Staples?? The lot was full ...

It would have been suicide to attempt an Apple retail store on Black Friday! Next year, it's online or nothing! :p

LOL, all very good points. :D

Yup. Same as every black Friday. People are willing to drop big money on their products. If Dell, Sony, Samsung etc... had that hot brand name they wouldn't do anything different. Buyers dictate where the prices and discounts go. If their notebooks sold like sh** then you would probably see the 2k MBP go between 1600-1700. If the iPad didn't sell well you would see 399 etc...

Be kind of nice when/if the Apple market forced Apple to lower pries and raise specs and amount of ports. Maybe one day.

No, it just means they'd rather keep the extra 13-11%.
That's Apple for you.

Their discounts are enough so I can save on tax here in Massachusetts. Not worth it at all. I will stick to buying all my Apple products used. Like that 2 month old mid-2010 MBP w/ AppleCare I got for $500. Now that's a discount.

 Thats not a discount, thats a steal! Good on ya man.

ordered maxed out macbook air 13" 2.13ghz 4gb ram etc.

Takes 3 working days to ship,
and will arrive around friday next week, or following tuesday...

Soooo long!

I bought 13" MBP & 11.6" MBA w/ 4G RAM.

Was going to make these purchases anyways, why not today?

Obviously i didn't get full sale on MBA, but i did use my student discount for $50 off. I don't get the bitchin tho. The sale obviously isn't enough to create an impulse buy, but if your going to be purchasing soon anyways, todays the day.

I'm happy.

Perhaps they are Apple stockholders and don't want to see any profits lost :D

Apple customers are loyal!

My dad who travelled to NJ from London for the Black Friday sales, was offered a 6% discount on the Mac mini server in an Apple store. So, even though Apple were not offering an official discount on the Mac mini, some stores were able to offer it anyway!!

I've never been able to find, which is weird. But I wonder what the actual cost is of all the MBP's to make. How much is that markup to begin with? Just something I can never find out it seems.

It really doesn't matter what the markup is if you think about it. Just like people bring home a paycheck and it has to go to bills, Apple's markup on their computers has to go to paying employees, R&D, marketing/advertising, materials to build and package products, factory machinery to build the products, maintenance/ repairs, running the retail stores and paperwork.

Sure it doesnt matter, that still doesnt mean I wouldnt want to know for curiosity reasons. All manufacturers mark ups go for the same thing as well. Besides the retail stores I guess. I am quite aware of where the money goes. Some of it in that 50 billion dollar pile as well.

No Tax With Amazon

Don't forget to factor in to the final price that Amazon.com does not charge tax!

I just bought a 3.2G 21.5" iMac for a bottom line price of $1398. I live in CA so that is a $125 savings over any where else because of the tax that everyone else adds on.

I had an unexpected 'Black Friday (Actually Saturday)' thing.

I was suddenly due for an upgrade, at the lowest cost, for the iPhone 4 today after getting the word that I wasn't eligible until March only a few days ago.

Anyone else had this happen? Not that I'm complaining...

This isn't true, it depends on the state you live in...in NY they do, although that wasn't always the case.

I got two 8GB iPod Touch's for my boyz at Walmart. The price was $225 but they were giving away a $50 gift Card. So, that made the price of each $175. And I was shocked at the number they had available. We were about 20th in line, and when I bought ours, they had boxes on the ground that had 10 in each box. I'm guessing they still had another 70-80 more to sell. I'm guess about 100 in total, that's at least 5K in gift cards.
