Apple authorized reseller Adorama is offering an impressive $1,000 discount on the high-end 2016 15-inch MacBook Pro with Touch Bar.

The special Black Friday sale drops the price of last year's high-end MacBook Pro in Space Gray to $1,899, down from Apple's original price of $2,899 last year. That is by far the lowest price we've ever seen for this particular model.

The high-end 2016 15-inch MacBook Pro is equipped with a 2.9GHz quad-core Intel Core i7 processor, 16GB of RAM, 256GB of SSD storage, and both dedicated AMD Radeon Pro 460 and integrated Intel HD Graphics 530 graphics.

While newer 2017 MacBook Pro models with Kaby Lake processors were released in May, the performance improvements driven by the small bump in base and turbo frequencies are relatively minor and shouldn't be a big deal for most customers.

B&H Photo Video has a few other notable discounts on select 2016 MacBook Pro configurations:

- 2016 13-inch MacBook Pro with function keys: 2.0GHz Core i5, 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD, Intel Iris Graphics 540 - now $1,149, originally $1,499 ($350 off)
- 2016 15-inch MacBook Pro with Touch Bar: 2.7GHz Core i7, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD, AMD Radeon Pro 455 - now $2,099, originally $2,799 ($700 off)

The deals are available until various times today while supplies last. B&H Photo Video was earlier offering $800 off the base model 2016 15-inch MacBook Pro with Touch Bar, but it has run out of stock for that particular deal.

All of this just brings to light how outrageously overpriced the MacBook Pros are.

Even with $800 off, I still can’t justify the cost.

Yet many could justify the cost when they were first released and I'm sure a lot of those laptops have already paid themselves off with the work they achieved.

Just goes to show that value is in the eye of the beholder.

this is compelling but i abhor the thought of buying a year old machine, even at that price

plus, wake me up when theres a 32 gig option considering what a loaded 15" costs and the fact weve been stuck at 16 gigs for almost 6 years now. spare me the 'nobody needs 32 gigs' spiel, thats been proven to be garbage year in year out; if we listened to those people wed all be on 2 gigs of RAM right now and not able to do a damn thing on our computers

Yes, but look at who you’re buying from. One of the most disreputable sellers in the business. I’ll pass. I rather save up and buy directly from Apple, even with the outrageous premium they charge.

I have never dealt with B & H, are they that bad?

Hmm, got the upgraded 2016 model with 2.9 GHz and Radeon 460 from Adorama for $1899, but having second thoughts now. Should I return that and get this for $300 less? Haven’t opened that one yet, any opinions from the hive mind?

yup, that sounds about right for a 13 inch macbook-pro. it still lacks a comfortable keyboard, mag-safe and the dedicated gpu, which comparable 13 inch mbps from a few years back had at that price. Not to mention a disc drive, card reader, user replaceable ram and HD, better connectivity and still an even smaller price for the enty-level model - but things gotta change at apple‘s - and the rest is probably due to inflation.

I daren’t buy the recent MacBook Pros due to the dodgy keyboard. I would also never pay the $300 premium for the pointless touch bar. As soon as they release an escape with a reliable keyboard I’m in. If they never do, my iPad/Mac Mini will have to do.

I'm tempted, but being the 2016 model, and the bad reputation of the keyboard. I think I'll pass. Also the refurbs on Apple.com have 2016 at 1850, so the price difference is really only 250 dollars. I know its refurb vs. new but since they're year old machines its a good indication of the price

I haven’t purchased from them in years so maybe they have changed. I always had bad experiences buying camera equipment and such from them years ago. They had a very bad reputation in the New York area. They would frequently sell gray market stuff without marking it as such. Lenses new in box with mold on the elements because they were sitting in a damp basement, etc. At that time there were limited places to buy camera equipment so they had a captive audience. Maybe having competition has made them up their game. Once bitten, twice shy I guess.

And would you share your bad experiences? I'm sure that there are those that would like to know.

Reading the comments above, i had a hard chuckle. This is from folks that will not blink an eye to spend north of $1,300+ (with AC+) on the X. [I refuse to pay North of $1,000 for a freaking phone.]

On an aside, there is apparently a mano-a-mano between B&H in NYC and ExperCom in Utah.

[For my use case, to protect against early obsolescence with a year-old laptop, I would not buy a rMBP with less than 1TB SSD, 4GB dGPU, and 16GB memory -- but that is just me.]
