I have never dealt with B & H, are they that bad?
B&H is excellent. Better than Amazon.
Thanks for the info. I have never dealt with them as I said, and I live in NY. Was curious.Several years back, I used to buy from them... and was a satisfied customer. However...
They have been the subject of serious discrimination lawsuits -- as a result of unfair wages and mistreatment of Latinos and blacks. They were even sued by the U.S. Department of Labor. http://www.cnn.com/2016/02/29/us/bh-photo-lawsuit/
It's actually a second federal lawsuit -- back in 2007, they settled the first one for several million dollars! We really need to think twice before pushing them.
I used to be a booster until reading the reports about these complaints and lawsuits! Sometimes, when a company's deals are too good to be true -- or, their prices unusually low, there's a reason! And, it's not just because of volume sales! Pay your workers less than you should... and your prices can be lower.
And discriminate against workers of color and you have a company we should think twice about buying from!
So, in answer to your question, yes, they have been that bad. Whether they still are or not would require some investigation, but th problems are still too recent for me to chase good deals from them and reward them with my dollars. Others may not care.
I really dislike the keyboard. When I have to do a lot of typing I find myself using my old 11" Air instead of my Macbook Pro.

/shrug I have Thunderbolt 2. No big deal unless I want eGPUs.As long as you don’t need a (or 3 or 4) Thunderbolt 3 Port(s), the 2015 is a fine machine. But for some MBP buyers, that’s a dealbreaker.
Though eGPUs are starting to become more popular, plugging in a 5K monitor (or two) is a more common use for the TB3 ports on a MBP./shrug I have Thunderbolt 2. No big deal unless I want eGPUs.
Funny thing is if you configure with high-end parts, the touchbar models are cheaper for some configs. The touch bar might be great for some people but I don't need or want it (and would happily trade it for more ports). Which leads me to the current non-touchbar MBP: https://www.apple.com/uk/shop/buy-mac/macbook-pro?product=MJLQ2B/A&step=config#
It would be great if it had the same high-end CPU as available on the MBP with touchbar and it would be a no-brainer-buy if it came with 32Gb RAM.
Is it ever exciting? The only Macs I can recall that were good deals just in terms of compute power were certain Mac Pros, and only right after release. Of course, there are plenty of other reasons to buy.Price/performance is still unexciting.
I have a 2014 15" MBP. You know - before they made them too thin, took away the ports, added some gimmick tech and jacked up the price. I also have a second hand 12" MB that cost less me less than a new iphone. But, leaving all that aside - I would much sooner buy a "cheap" windows laptop as you put (less expensive != cheap) than overpay for one of the crappy current MBP's.
I wouldn't touch a 2016 again with a 10 foot pole. Terrible issues with mine over and over.
Finally got a replacement with a 2017, night and day much better!
What was so bad about the experience? I grabbed the deal on Monday and got the specced out 2016 15in model. Was there issues with performance?
