Black or White iPad?

I bought a black one. I have a white iPhone 4S though. One of the main features of the white is that it hides finger prints very well which is the reason I got it for the iPhone. But would you buy a TV with a white bezel? For viewing content black will be better.

I think it comes down to what you plan on doing with your iPad. If you plan on watching movies and television shows, go with a black iPad as it will be less of a distraction with letterbox shows. If you plan on reading with your iPad, go with a white version, as the majority of the reading you will do will be black text on a white background. Having a white bezel makes it slightly easier on the eyes, IMO.

Therefore, I went with a white version as I rarely watch movies on my iPad and do a lot of reading websites and eBooks.

I also got a dark grey polyurethane cover. I just thought it looked best.

Exactly this.

I spend most of my time using Tweetbot, Instapaper, and browsing. All of which make the white bezel blend in to the background.

all of my apple products, always black (even got a sticker for MBA :)

but that doesn't necessarily represent your good / bad spirit :)

i remember last year, everyone said white ipad was gay and fugly. now it seems people like it more :p

had white ipad 2. its okay, its not as white as i would liek to be, so black this year

White. I thought it looked pretty ;) every 2nd gen I'd tried in a store was a white one, and I always walked away wishing my 1st gen was white. So now my 3rd gen is :D

White, no question. it looks so classy. But I actually can't see the color because my case (leather Piel Frama) completely covers the bezel as it securely holds the frame in the case.

Black looks dark and menacing... Darth Vader. LOL.

White

I went with the white iPad, because I bought the black iPhone and I have regretted that decision ever since I got it. The white looks so sharp.

I also bought the dark grey smart cover, it looks nice.

Dark Side iPad

I think that the white one looks sylish, clean and all of the colored smart covers matches (better) with the white iPad but I went with the classy dark side iPad, because I think a white bezel looks more distracting when watching movies and viewing images than a black bezel when reading books or surfing the web.

I plan to use the iPad mostly to surf the web and read comics. What would you suggest ? One thing that I like more on the white one is that somehow has less glare because the white bezel is not reflective as the black one.

glad I went with black

as some folks have said, the white bezel wasn't the best for video playback.

Besides when I had a white iPhone and iPad, they were constantly covered in some kind of protector.

I'll stick with Black.

If apple ever makes another black laptop, I'm all over that.

I went to the apple store planning on buying a black iPhone even though I went with the white iPhone. At the last second I changed my mind to e white model but wasn't 100% happy with the choice I made. A few days later I had two lines that ran down my screen. I took this as a sign that I should of gotten black, so I swapped my DOA iPad for a black one. Only thing I miss about the white one was the lack of visible fingerprints.

I recently bought a black iPad (3rd Gen.) with a cream Smart Cover and I'm very, very happy with that. I actually planned to buy a white iPad because I already had a black iPad (1st Gen.) and a black iPad 2 and wanted to try something new. After I played a little bit with the new white iPad (browsing the web, writing some notes and watching some youtube videos) I decided to take a black iPad again. The white bezel was more ditracting when watching some movies than a black bezel could be when browsing the web or writing mails etc. There is no question, the new white iPad looks amazing, especially on Apple's website but IMO black is more of an allrounder.

At first I found it difficult to make a decision. I watched the Apple keynote and was sure that I want the new iPad in white, but after reading some threads, viewing pictures and watching some video comparisons I went with a black iPad. I think that I made the right decision.

Black because I think it is better for video. I have a white iPhone because I don't watch video on it very often. However, I could live with either color, I just went with what I know to be a good combination since I also have a black original iPad.

Always black as it makes everything in the screen look better, contrast wise. Have you ever seen a cinema with a white cover around the screen? :D Its always black...

Absolutely right! I've seen some TV sets with a white frame but they were very distracting (in my opinion) ;). I don't know how the white bezel feels when you're just browsing the web, reading books and writing some mails but it can't be that better than a black one. But if you watching movies, it makes a huge difference.

I bought white and I have no regrets. Although it would be nice if the back of the iPad were the same cover as the bezel.

Aesthetics and design are other fields. I like the white "cover" as well, especially because it matches with all Smart Cover colors which the black iPad definitively doesn't. But in my opinion the black iPad is superior in all other categories. In action while watching movies, pictures and design because the apple logo on back of the iPad and all buttons are black.

This is one of the primary reasons I chose black: all the decals (ports, buttons, and most importantly that giant Apple logo) are black! The aesthetics alone would push me to favor black.

Also TV bezel reason, implied masculinity, implied "not-a-toy", etc.

Also, black leather smart cover.

I went with white just because all of my phones have been black. I don't regret it. I think it is very clean and sharp looking.

I bought a white this time because I'm upgrading from the first iPad and wanted a change. So far I'm really liking it, though I was slightly hesitant in the beginning.

I think the black was great on the first iPad with it's thicker body, but from the iPod 2 onwards, with the slimmer design, white just seems slicker. Black makes it feel bulky somehow. Another advantage with white is that fingerprints are not as much of an annoyance.

Also in terms of usage, I feel the black border to be better when watching a video, but the white border is nicer for everything else. :)

Oh, and I got the blue poly smart cover, for a touch of colour...

I have a black iPad 1 and Ended up ordering a black iPad 3, but I'm not sure if I want to swap it out for white. I like how the black one fades out of view, and it doesn't scream "omg iPad iPad look I have an iPad!" but I don't really watch movies or videos on my iPad, and so sometimes I think the while might be cleaner and slicker then the black. so indecisive.
