Like most everyone else, I fail to see how this is newsworthy even a little. I couldn't find another blackberry user if I was paid to.

Here's some condescending BS: iMessage sucks for you, and is just fine for plenty of others. Get over it.

There's nothing to "get over". I fully accept that both iMessage and Messages for OS X are very spotty, unreliable services for me. Pardon me for daring to come here to say so.

http://www.intomobile.com/2013/04/09/apple-confirms-imessage-and-facetime-not-working-some-users/

Yes, I'm the ONLY person who's had a problem with iMessage. Complaints about it have never arisen. So spare me the "basic logic" condescending BS. A simple Google search on "iMessage not working" will show that this is hardly an isolated incident.

Not everyone has an issue with iMessage. As a whole, how does it handle? out there are probably hundreds of millions iPhones out there that run iMessage. Out of them all, how many are experiencing an issue.

Even if 10,000 people have issues with iMessage, which is a lot of people, out of 100,000,000 iphones, that is .01% of people having issues. The overall issue may not be the phone or the app but the network it is running on. (these are made up numbers just to provide an example of the shear volume of iPhones out there and an idea of how many people may have issues)

I know my AT&T iPhone used to have crappy reception, not because of the phone itself really but because of AT&T's spotty coverage. With Verizon, I get WAYYYYYYYYYY better coverage/reception. The only time I notice iMessage or Text not working right is when I have one bar or no bars of reception inside some places of my work place.

I didn't say, nor mean to imply, that everyone has an issue with the service. But it's been highly unpredictable for me lately, in the same locations and on the same networks where it used to work perfectly. It's puzzling. Throw in iCloud being unavailable from time to time and it's been a rough few months using Apple's services.

I don't understand the ridiculously strong negative sentiment about this. If you don't think you will use it, just don't. It really is that simple. For those who want to use it, for whatever reason, this is great. I used to use BBM years ago, before the iPhone launched, and wished, for a long time, for it to make it to iOS. I too, think it may be a little late in the game, but we will see. Google just launched their Google Talk (now called Hangouts... stupid name IMO) officially on iOS and there are tons of people using it. Who knows. Maybe BBM will be the same.

You aren't allowed to state that you had bad experiences with an Apple service here. You are probably using it wrong! :D

/s

As far as this goes, Siri is the service that I think is utter uselessness. It is so unreliable for me that I don't even use it as I stand to lose time trying to get the thing to do what I want it to. I don't even have an accent, unless you call a Southern California accent an accent.

Half the time I send an iMessage, it ends up being sent as a text. It's hardly reliable.

Are you on Sprint? This may be the fault of your phone's internet connection.

iMessage uses the internet connection, whether you are on Wifi or 3G/LTE. If you're on a Wifi that's messed up, or on poor quality 3G (like Sprint tends to have), you will have problems with iMessage.

Text messages (SMS) uses the cellular control channel. This is a completely different path than the internet, and will tend to be much more reliable when data is unavailable or slow. (Like on Sprint).

Okay I'm ragging on Sprint a bit much. But based on a friend's experience with them.. they deserve it I think. :)

I hear ya, but that sounds like more of a network issue than the service itself. Granted I probably do not live in the same area as you do (North Carolina) but I haven't noticed any outages in iMessage or iCloud but that isn't to say there haven't been some. I do not use my phone all day long like some people do so I may miss when those outages are occuring.

Have you tried these services while on WiFi where you aren't using your cellular providers connection to establish a connection to the servers? I am just wondering if on WiFi you are able to connect but while on cellular signal you cannot.

If that is the case then I would definitely say it is your carrier versus Apple's services.

Either way though, not really sure if BBM on iOS and Android will really help bring BB back from the dead. That is not to say I won't download it and give it a try but at this time, I do not see it winning me over unless it has some killer feature that I just cannot live without.

Nah, AT&T, and surprisingly, I have enjoyed their service. I was with Sprint before the iPhone 4 launch, and I will never go back to them.

I was with AT&T before switching to Verizon and I will probably never go back. I am glad that they are rolling LTE out in more cities but they need to get much better coverage for their 3G and LTE. There were huge chunks of space that I would drive through that would have literally nothing for signal for miles. Not so good when you are using your phone for a GPS or something happens and you break down. And this is in NC, not somewhere in the desert out west.

So far I have had a pretty good experience with my iP5 and Vzn.

I still don't really understand the whole point of putting BBM on other platforms to be honest.

Update 8:46 AM: Business Insider reports that the June 27 date is incorrect, with a source calling the claim "bogus".

Noooh way! That is most non-non-heinous.

Update 11:25 AM: BlackBerry has confirmed to Mashable that the June 27 date tweeted by T-Mobile UK is incorrect.

Excellent! *plays air guitar*

Not really sure how so many people can be so angry over something they never have to use.

if RIM pays us to use it, then it would be a different story.

i think we have enough of chat programs already. iMessage, whatsapp, we chat. facebook messenger.

It's bad for me, my family, and my friends. It used to be terrible, and it's gotten better, but it has to be nearly 100%. This thing is less reliable than AIM. I'm on AT&T but usually on wifi. Are you sure it's not just good for you?

If BB had released this 3 years ago, they could have owned the messenger service on phones. I don't see this going anywhere. Whenever Google gets its act together and polishes up Hangouts, then that's what I'll use.

Meh, not interested. I use Hangouts and sometimes WhatApp to stay in touch with my contacts.

Funny some members here being sarcastic of BBM released on AppStore and PlayStore. Try to be funny comedian and all?

It's free to download, and they don't force you to download it, so what's not to like here? You don't care? Then what? Would it be the end of the world if BBm available as a free app?

Half of my contacts still use BB handset for what? Ubiquity. Doesn't matter if they suck big time or the phone/OS does not look as cool, but hey .. it works. Many times better than iMessage. Why? Because more and more people use them. Having a real keyboard provides great accuracy and comfort while typing.

You people in Youh Ace of Eh think it's the center of the the universe?

People out there still use BB many times. And BBm presence on other platform easing out the transition. I, for one be grateful because finally my iPhone can also do BBm.

Don't like it? How about turn your head elsewhere and stop acting jerk?

No, we KNOW no one in the US cares hahahaha, thats why you people are soooo loved all over the world :D

My point was simply that Blackberry is pretty much dead in the water in the US, so BBM will not be a large draw unless something drastic changes in the market.

Not sure what stating the facts about market share in a region has to do with our reputation in the world? I'm not the one making baseless personal attacks here. *shrug*

This!!!

Why all the hate, it is free, you don't have to download it, you don't have to use it.

I mostly stay away on the main stories on MR and rarely comment, reason, too many complaining about nothing at all.

Lots of (slightly off topic) discussions about iMessage and its purported lack of reliability.

Remember that it isn't just your network that will affect whether an iMessage is sent as an SMS, but also the recipient's. You can have the best data connection in the world, but if the recipient doesn't it is going to send as an SMS...
