Blank App Icon on Notifications Watch OS 4

I was getting pissed off with Twitter notification icons not showing up since having gotten my Watch3, i figured it had something to do with Twitter having removed the watch app around the same time.

I am glad I stumbled upon this topic, and I'll just wait for 4.1 to fix...

QC at Apple seems to have slipped quite badly in this year's major OS releases... iOS 11, WatchOS 4, and High Sierra all have some serious bugs on the release versions... I can't remember it being this bad before.
 
I am not on the WatchOS beta (I am on the iOS Public Beta) but this issue has resolved itself (a day or two ago) without any recent updates? All of the affected app icons inc. Pillboxie have returned for me.

Happens with Twitter & BBC Sport app for me.
 
Glad to have found this thread. Noticed this happening after watchOS 4. Never had an issue prior. A few other apps do this on a rare occasion but snapchat is the biggest culprit.

I can confirm that you dont need to wait for watchos4.1. I have installed the Public Beta 11.1 Beta 4 (GM) given the shorter build number and notifications are no longer blank!!!

Also fixes the Krack WIFI exploit and appears bug free and well polished

Happy days!!

Yeah im the same exactly the same as me its obviously a bug in watch os 4
 
I might be wrong, but it looks like posters are mixing up two separate issues:

Some people are missing their App icons on WatchOS 4 (icons on the app picker). I’ve read that 4.0.1 fixes this for Apple Watch 3, but not 1 or 2.

Other people (myself included) are getting notifications (via iPhone - independent of if the app has its own Apple Watch app installed or not) without the app icon on the notification - we are seeing a default wireframe where the image should be when we receive an otherwise readable notification on our watches.

Is this correct? I cannot believe it, that Apple finds an issue and decides to fix it only in their latest products.
 
Glad I found this thread. I am having this problem with notifications from:
- Youtube
- Facebook
- Netflix
A lot of other apps are not affected.
I have a series 2 and I hope they correct this annoying thing for this model too. As it is a known issue I think I will not send any feedback and just wait for the next update. If the issue is not fixed I will send feedback on both the bugtracker and the normal feedback form.
 
This seems to be an issue with iOS 11. I'm still on watchOS 3 but using iOS 11 and I occasionally see this.
 
Awesome. I was hoping the Apple Watch update would fix it, but then I saw iOS 11.1 was out and I’m glad that did the trick for me.
 
I have iOS 11.1 and watchOS 4.1 and I still have the glitch on my series 2 for Twitter and Snapchat. :(
