Bah, screw the 32GB, give us a firmware update! C&P, landscape email and text, separate signatures for email accounts (I mean why the hell not??) and note syncing would be nice.

Now that I've got my 3G, I'm trying to figure out why I waited in the first place. I didn't even use the 8GB that I had on it 1st gen. Guess i can maybe justify it because i thought tgere might be an improvement to tge battery slipped in without mention... Oh well...

I'm definitely enjoying my 3G speeds. Back to babying a new phone though...

I'm getting a 16GB iPhone today after waiting for a 32GB. I've had a 15GB 3rd Gen iPod since it was released. Time to upgrade!

It's been 12 months since the last storage bump. That's about the end of a product cycle when it comes to iPods. I'm not ditching my first gen phone until it hits 32GB, and I'm probably going to wait for the next hardware makeover with the advent of this new battery for the MBP.

So are you guessing they may be able to fit the MBP battery in an upcoming iphone?

Interesting...

I didn't even consider the iPhone implications of the new battery. This could be the battery solution we've been waiting for.

If you wait for the newest model or upgrade, you'll always be waiting.

When the 32GB version comes out, you'll be waiting for the 64GB version. Just get it now and be happy.

Same thing happened to me last year. I went out and bought one within a day of Macworld since anything wasn't announced. Granted the 3G came out soon thereafter, but I was good with having used my Edge for 6 months instead of waiting.

Perhaps they'll have another silent capacity update, but I'd expect a v3 announced in May/June again. All of the original contracts will be up in July and that will be the initial window to capitalize on a new device. I would expect a better battery, upgraded processor, the already mentioned larger capacity and 3.0 software.

Yes, that's what everybody says. But it's not always the case. I'm waiting for 32GB because I currently have a 30 GB iPod and don't want anything with less storage. I'll be happy with 32GB. And if a 64GB version is announced the day after I buy a 32GB, I'll say "good for you" but still won't regret either waiting or buying.

Thing is I say get one when they come out, and then just buy a new one when replacement comes out. Then sell the old one.

But if I buy one now I'll get the upgrade price. If the version I really want comes out this summer, I'll have to pay full price. I seriously doubt I'll make enough selling the 16GB version to cover that!

I'm waiting. I'm buying an iPhone so I don't have to carry two separate devices, and seeing as my iPod is a 30gb, a 16gb iPhone wouldn't be a true replacement. I know I really wouldn't be happy with only 16gb, and seeing how it's somewhat of a luxury item, I can sit and wait with my aging Treo/iPod until a new iPhone is released.

you need 16gb of music/video with you at all times? I have a 8gb and have more than enough music/video to last me through the day and at night I swap things out

I dont see myself using all 32Gb so the White 16Gb is good enough for me.:p

I initially purchase the 8g and 8 days later got the 16g.

I was able to nearly fill the 8g while the 16g I normally have about 9g of stuff.

If a 32g came out I would jump al over it.

The more music and videos I can lave on the device the better.

8g sufficient
16g significant increase in convenience
32g Load up once a week or as needed. ultimate convenience.
64g Stop; your just plain teasing now

That's really the thing, I don't want to bother having to "swap things out". I like the fact that I only sync when I buy some new music, otherwise I plug my iPod into the wall. I can't be bothered making playlists or choosing specific songs to put on. Plus with the additional overhead of apps, 16gb wouldn't really do it for me.

If my current phone or iPod kicks the proverbial bucket before there's a 32gb released, then I'll suck it up and buy. But as it stands, I can live without an iPhone for a little while longer.

In this day and age of cloud computing, online storage and remote access, I don't understand why 32Gb is needed in a portable device with WiFi and mobile/cellular connectivity. The storage size is just a carrot, the next logical upgrade step and therefore desired and "needed" by some, even if they don't really. I guess it's human nature to think "What if...?" and want what could be.

With Simplify Media I can listen to any and all songs in my iTunes library, regardless of how big that library is, wherever I have Wifi or 3G. With MobileMe I can upload photos so I don't have to store them on the device if I don't want to. I can also email photos to myself and delete them. If I could access my iDisk and exchange files while mobile (true MobileMe!), the iPhone's storage becomes just a cache.

With the online capabilities of iPhoto and iWork announced yesterday, that could be the icing on the cake. Apple just needs to make their mobile device offer all the functionality of their mobile service.

I have been waiting to see what comes out. With nothing announced yesterday, it may be time for me to buy a 16GB.

I have a 120GB iPod Classic that I use for music. I also have almost 14GB of music on my 16GB iPhone (in case my iPod isn't with me or if I need to charge my iPhone in my car). Most of the time I enjoy using my iPod classic... it has features that the iPhone does not have.

Things I like about my iPod classic:
While listening to a song, I can add it to my "On-the-Go" playlist
Ability to Browse the Artist Albums of the currently playing song
Genius is even better when there's a lot more music for it to choose from
Sound quality is better on the classic (look it up)
It holds my entire music library with about 70GB to spare
Play, Pause and Skip are physical buttons. I don't even have to look at it.

Things I like about my iPhone 3G:
Only my favorite music (I never hear a song I don't like)
Way easier to browse Artists and Songs with flicking instead of a scroll wheel
Can jump directly to any Alphabetical letter I want in a flash
Big Album Art looks nicer
Double tapping the Album Art shows you the songs
When I unplug the sync cable, it pauses automatically

So there's advantages and trade-offs to both... oh well. I still love my classic!

I also have two first gen iPhones and an iPod touch. I seriously need help.

Plus all the stuff in your signature?

You know... I never got around to buying that Apple Hi-Fi though. That's one product I didn't like. It was huge and ugly... the sound wasn't *amazing* either... I'd rather get a Bose or something.

Note: I'm a Demi-God because I gave MacRumors some of my money as my donation/support to this website and community. Also, I don't have to look at ad banners on this site anymore. Some people here don't like me, but I usually try to help people with the knowledge I have, and I do know my way around Apple stuff... I own enough of it... hehe.

As I've seen in many many threads in the past week, people referring to "summer" as a time for a new updated phone, are these folks referring to the WWDC event?

I'm somewhat new to the whole mac scene only jumping on board, as far as following, when the 1st gen iphone was announced.

When do they usually announce the WWDC date and time?

Do you think there will even be a WWDC this year, ya know, with Apple dipping outta MacWorld and all, who knows what'll happen next?
