The point is to see it on your watch, not have to look on the phone. Of course I’m on watchOS 26, so I may not see it until final release.
If you're on WatchOS 26, if there's any liquid glass silliness then you might not even (clearly) see it at all lol!

Not relevant to specific issued patents.
FRAND (fair, reasonable and non-discriminatory) licensing still exists. The two parties have been at opposite ends of negotiations for years. I don't know if Masimo actually asked for $100 per Apple Watch for SpO2 monitoring. Would that have been fair? Not to me, and certainly not to Apple. Even $10 is a big ask for a feature that I wouldn't use on a regular basis, even decreasingly so as Covid has come under better control. Under Masimo's previous CEO, they gambled hard. They won the battle (the ITC ban) but probably lost the war (Apple waiting the patent to expire). The CEO is out thanks to activist investors who got tired of waiting for Apple to buckle. Lots of luck with the rest of your portfolio, Masimo.

Some of us have taken note and are saying it.

It's tough to wade through the ADF (Apple Defense Force) often present around here though.

If one reverses the situation and makes it so "Apple is the one with IP being infringed upon", it becomes easy to see who is sycophantic and who is objective and rational.
I was really shocked when I learned about this case and how Apple was acting. This is not my Apple I was loving and looking up to. This story also changed my perspective and the way I see Apple now.

Just updated my Apple Watch 10 (GPS+Cellular) to watchOS 11.6.1, and the Blood Oxygen app is still missing from my Apple Watch. iPhone 16 Pro Max was updated to iOS 18.6.1. Does anybody else have this issue, too? Thanks!

I’m no patent expert but seems ridiculous that “processing it on device” can be trademarked—
Clearly. As it is patented, not trademarked, and a novel enough way of doing it on a wearable device could be patented. That is the whole point of patents, encouraging novel approaches to existing problems.

it must be the way it’s being processed on the device bypassed.

If it is being done in a different way, and it does not infringe the patent.

I actually discovered what it was. The app had been removed. I went to the App Store on the Apple Watch and reinstalled it. It is working now, albeit with results only on the iPhone. Thanks!

They still violated patents according to the the top ITC court

The international trade commission is not court. It is an ad administrative body, with much lower standards. In the actual court proceedings, with the jury trial, Massimo was unable to convince six of the seven heroes that Apple was in violation.

still refuse to pay royalties therefore resulting in this half-a** solution.

Would you pay over an extra $140 an Apple Watch to have a feature? I was not, nor would most people.
Not that I particularly care; I gave up on the Apple Watch a few months back and returned to Garmin. I need about 90% more fitness features, and 90% less smartwatch features before coming back.

All the more reason she completely discounted a position on the issue.

This is a nice surprise, even though mine is the original AWU2 which never lost the feature. Happy for those who will be getting it!

How is that? I have an AWU2 and I don't have it. Are you launch day? I'm not and I guess that's why; I probably bought mine after the court ruling.

Same thing here. What gives?

Does anyone know if it's actually accurate? My mom had breathing issues and has blood oxygen of around 82% according to professional equipment, however I have measured it with an Apple Watch and it said it was around 94-96%...
When I got covid a couple of years ago the doctor who also had an  Watch told me it was quite accurate

I had the same issue . The app was still there but not working .So I finally un paired and repaired the watch to my phone and it's working fine now . You can download the app from the appstore thats on your watch.

What is the App called? Sorry for the stupid question.

Too bad I already worked out today!

You are not obligated to license under FRAND terms absent a pre-existing agreement, such as being part of a standards essential body.

Ultra 2 black
I just updated my phone (16 Pro) and watch (Ultra 2 Black). Ran an ECG test, then went to the Blood Oxygen app and it worked perfectly (result 97%, showed up immediately in Health app).

There have been several suggestions in this thread and a similar one to run an ECG test first, then go to the Blood Oxygen app and it will work. Might want to try that.
