I really wonder where the release of ARM Macs fits in here. Really hope that the first ones aren’t pushed until 2021 but their relate schedule this spring is going to be really tight.

What is wrong with Apple always recycling/milking ancient designs these days. First, the iPad lineup, and now the AW lineup as well. Back in Steve Job's days (and even only a few years ago), apple would just lower the price of existing models while pushing forward with revolutionary designs. Now everything is just stagnating and being recycled, re-introduced at different price points, some features cut/modified for the price..... URGH it is an absolute mess and innovation is not applied to new products fast enough

So they should reduce the price and sell old devices that will get obsolete in some years? Apple is recycling designs, but using new chips to give them more longevity without increasing the price. The new strategy is a lot better for the consumer.

ARM Macs and iPhone 12 are totally independent. Well, almost independent. I'd assume that low end Macs (dual core) will first be replaced with an unchanged iPhone 12 processor, possibly higher clock speed, then the quad and six core Macs will replaced with two iPhone 12 processors on one chip. And so on.

You probably noticed that there are people out there who think iPhone users are all idiots who only buy an iPhone to be able to say "Look, I have an iPhone, I'm better than you". And then comes Apple and destroys that for everyone who can think a little bit, because ancient iPhone 7, old iPhone 8, and brand new iPhone SE all look exactly the same unless you look very, very closely.

Yeah, I know but that’s where my fear of delays comes in as A14 will probably be released first before we can have A14X or Z or whatever the Macchip will be called.

It’s a very tight window between the release of the iPhone and the end of the year where will see an ARM MacBook. There might also be an updated MBP 16 inch with new intel processors as Apple might wait to update that and Mac Pro with ARM and there own GPU. Marketing wise a bit complicated.

News of the day: You need to drink water to survive! :D

Seriously Bloomberg?
If Bloomberg doesn’t know then Apple hasn’t scheduled it yet. Bloomberg is known to be one of Apple’s preferred publications to “leak” info to when they want. This is their way of saying to wall street we don’t have a date but fall is our target.

An Apple Watch “SE” would be cool.
Yes indeed my Series 1 AW has served me well but battery is on its last legs and the watch is a bit laggy in general. Very intrigued what the budget Apple Watch will be thats replaces the AW3. Hoping for the AW4 at £199 which will be more than good enough for my needs. Will compliment my new iphone 12 5”4 nicely.

I will be really disappointed if LIDAR and ProMotion only goes to the larger iPhone PRO. iPhone SE already proved that people want a smaller iPhone. Here on MR, lot of buyers of the larger PRO regrets the choice. And it’s even bigger this year.

Confirmed/rumoured to be coming in 2020: iPhone 12 series, AWS6, iPad/iPad Air, AirTags, HomePod mini, AirPod Studios, AirPower, Apple TV, ARM Macs, software releases

Given that Apple has a lot of products still to announce this year with likely only one event to pack it all in (they've never done an event in November in recent memory), it makes sense to break out product announcement via press releases. I guess we will find out next week whether we are getting new Watches and iPads.

Why can’t I get a stainless steel band on the 5.4”??? Arghh. Stainless steel is strong and won’t get a dent even when it’s dropped. I don’t like using case on my phone ever.

Absolutely, would be a terrible move.

No fingerprint sensor, no buy. During these Covid times face id is basically useless and using pin access is less secure when I'm out in the public. Using the Note 20 U in the past few weeks has been a joy. At least some companies try to give you all the features it can instead of striping things away. Hopefully Apple is learning from this mistake.

There won't be _one_ processor for the Mac. Whatever is in the iPhone 12 will be quite suitable for a low end MacBook, without any changes. I am told from reliable sources that changing it from 2.5GHz to 3.5 GHz will be technically no big deal, but will double the power requirement and will increase the power requirement even if the higher clock speed is not used, so perfect for low-end desktop Macs.

I'm also told that doubling the number of cores is not a big deal, but a bit more complicated. So that would be the second round. If you get to four times the number of cores and you want four times the performance, that's difficult.

It's not Apple's fault there is a pandemic. Face ID in my opinion is much better than Touch ID was, it is much more accurate (no wet finger fails), it's only because of the pandemic that Face ID is an inconvenience. Unless you are a member of the government or have highly classified secrets, it's not an issue to just enter in the passcode on the lock screen instead.

I never said it was Apple's fault we are in a pandemic. It would be nice if they gave us different security options to choose from. I ride public transport and I'm in a mandatory mask-wearing State. I can't be taking off my mask all the time just because I need to use face ID to unlock my phone or to securely get into protected apps. I also risk spreading Covid by continuesly touching my mask. It was stupid to totally get rid of the fingerprint sensor.

You can use you’re passcode, nobody is asking you to take off the mask you are wearing.

Unless you are working for the government with highly classified information on the phone, it doesn't matter. Before Face ID and Touch ID everyone was using passcode. Yes it's less secure, but you are using it a few times, then when you get to where you are no longer needing a mask, you can use Face ID. At least that's what I do, but I'm in a different country with different rules relating to COVID-19 (U.K). I really don't see or have an issue with it myself.

I work at a facility that employs hundreds of people. Masks are mandatory at times, basically the government issued state wide mask usage. The onlytime I don't use a mask is of course at home, but I'm barely at home during the work week. I guess it's a matter of opinion. To me at this time, Apple does not offer enough different types of security features for me.
