I'd be interested in a M3 13" MBA, but only if they up the RAM and storage on the retail models.
I don't think we will see an MBA either way though.

Apple's big announcement will be its transition from 8GB to 12GB of memory... hehehe

The article states the iMac is the only device left with M1. Thats not accurate. The 13.3 MacBook Air still has M1. Are they planning on finally ending it? Pity because it still sells decently.

These rumors don't add up.
An M3 release would update the MBA's, not the 14/16" MBPs.

The iMac is a prime candidate for M2, and reengineering its logic board to fit an M2 Pro might partially explain/excuse the delay.

As for the others... maybe this is a RAM price cut and spec bump? 25-33% price cut on RAM upgrades, with the 13" MBP now starting with 12GB RAM standard? Maybe the 14/16" MBPs now have 24GB/48GB ram upgrade options? (Wishful thinking. I'm starting to look for a new laptop and don't want to replace my 8GB/512GB 2015 with another 8GB/512GB in M2)

Isn’t it late for press invites, and wasn’t the MacBook Pro only released in Jan, they wouldn’t release a new one in the same year or could they
We’re exactly a week before this speculated event, or 8 days. So an invite today or tomorrow isn’t really far fetched.

Baiting consumers initially with a "new, best ever" plain M3 Macs, like Air, 13" Pro, 24" iMacs, and then not offering any M3 Pro or better M3 Mac for the next 3-6 months serves to maximize sales of M3 Macs that would be (comparatively) unimpressive and low value/$ if they stood next to the Macs with M3 Pro, Mac and Ultra.

While they have introduced the base M chip first, I don't agree with the low value/$ comparison. MBPs tend to be 2x the cost of an Air, so given the performance of the base chip, unless you need the higher performance for some reason, the Air series is a good value / $ for most users.

As for desktops, the iMac has been slotted in as the all-in-one for non-power users with the Studio and upgraded mii the solution for power users; I suspect part of that is many users who want the more powerful processors will want larger or better screens than on an iMac.

iMac could still get M3 while the MacBook Airs wait until spring given they don’t really compete with each other. Someone who wants/needs a laptop isn’t likely to switch to an AIO desktop because it has more power.

Also it’s not inconceivable the MacBook 13.6 and 15 get M3 as well given M2 Pro/Max would still be more powerful.

I am just about to buy a Mac Studio M2 Ultra. Surely an update after only a few months can't be on. Though I have seen reductions in the UK for this machine of £200 & £400.

The 13" M2 MBA has been consistently on sale for $899 over the last month or so. This shows me that Apple could easily keep it around in the lineup and sell it for $999 (finally retiring the M1 MBA). Then the M3 version would take the $1099 slot. This would be a much cleaner lineup.

At the time it was rumoured the M2 14/16 inch pros were meant to launch in Oct/Nov 2022, and were just a few months late, so if we do see their M3 successors it would just be a reversion to form. On that basis I do think this is plausible.

MacBooks pro make zero sense without M3. Sounds fishy. Is Apple trying to find the leakers with false rumors?

Maybe all the M3’s are delayed so they’re ‘forced’ to revise the entire M2 Mac lineup, including better value pricing combos and options to improve the appeal until the M3’s drop?
