I'm guessing these people just sit in a room and say to each other: "What can we make up? It needs to sound similar to the other rumors but add a small tidbit with a bit of skepticism to drive the stock down while we short it."

I still don't know why this bothers people so much. I'd rather have the protruding camera than have the entire phone that thick just to hide it. It isn't optimal, but I've never seen it as something to be upset about.

Put your phone on a desk and type on it. It wobbles with every touch. That bothers me.

I would rather have a not-so thin phone with a decent battery that I can lay flat and use properly.

Doesn't look all that special and not worth $1,000+. I bet if you wait a cycle or two, all of the iPhones will be OLED, under a grand and larger battery and wireless charging. I'll wait and maybe just get the 7S+ and save a few hundred bucks.

It's because the internet is an echo chamber. In the real world no one is really bothered by it. I doubt most iPhone users have even considered it.

I'm not saying I agree or disagree but here are some of the things I've read on this;

Many people prefer to use their phones without cases and with the protruding camera the phone no longer lays flat on any surface (I know some reputable online reviewers mention that they liked non-protruding so they can use the phone while it's laying flat on a desk without it rocking side to side). Also, the level feature (in Apple's own Compass app) is rendered useless with the protruding cam.

I recall too that a number of Google Pixel reviews hailed the non-protruding cam on that phone for the same and a few other reasons.

Not to mention, aesthetically the protruding cam is a deviation from the clean design language that apple prides itself on.

I'm liking what I'm seeing and reading. Liking it very much.

Seems it's shaping up to be a 'greatest mash-up' of the classic iPhone's silhouette and the Leica inspired design schemes of iPhone 4.

If it is, in fact, relatively close to that mock up, it's going to be an instant buy for me.

If they can't get it under the screen as planned, then on the back. And we will be upset that they failed to put it under the screen as planned.

Curious (haven't been 100% up to date on the rumors coming out), but you think if they can't get touch id under the screen on the front then they would definitely put it on the back, rather than just continuing the iPhone 7 style home button? I would think they would stick to their current platform until they can master the under-the-screen technology rather than try something completely new and different only to go back to the front on the next version when they do get the technology down.

Apple has reportedly experimented with integrating the iPhone's fingerprint scanner into the screen, but noted it would be technically challenging, and said it's currently unclear if that feature will make it into the final product. Earlier research said Apple is facing yield issues with the under-display solution.

Did Apple say this was technically challenging, or someone else said Apple may have said that? Serious question.

My thoughts exactly.

The research apparently concluded this. Apple doesn't talk about upcoming devices production issues, you should know that by now.

I literally just tried this with my 7 Plus at work to verify your claim, and it doesn't really wobble except for when it's placed in landscape with the home button to the right (meaning the camera is in a vertical orientation to the upper left, on the back).

I'll rate your claim as 'mostly false.'

Which by the way, Apple changing the camera to a vertical orientation would fix this issue for you, since it would be horizontal and provide stability when typing flat in a landscape orientation.

If this is a deal breaker for people then they need to buy another phone. We're on the 3rd cycle now of iPhone with protruding camera. Highly unlikely Apple is going to make the phone thicker to eliminate that. Especially if Apple is using glass and stainless steel which could make the phone slightly heavier anyway.

I'd like to know this too. From what i'm reading someone is saying they are having trouble producing it in mass quantities not that they can't produce it

Well I just dropped and cracked my beloved launch day iPhone 6 Plus. So now I need one of these fancy new iPhones in my life.

My launch day 6 plus has just stopped charging last night. Going to have to get something cheap until one of these is released!

The iPhone 4 design has always been my favorite of all iPhone iterations. That jet black glass covering the front and back, and wrapped around a chormed rim was slick A.F.
I liked the iPhone 4 very much as well, with the glass on both sides. Not sure what "chormed" is, though. With a black bumper on it, it was like a tiny inert monolith, until you lit up the screen. Lovely industrial design.

Looks like a merge of the iPhone 6/7 design and the one for the 4/4s (my favorite).

I think it looks great, at least in renders.

Still, a pretty phone is not enough. I hope Apple does more, especially within iOS.
