Off should mean off. Plain & simple. If you want to use accessories turn it on. Or have a setting for 'accessory mode'. With the kinds of exploits out in the world it isn't time to trick users into thinking they're safe. Off means off.

This is a great change. Wireless tech like Bluetooth and Wifi are essential to so many features these days, and users don't always understand which features require which radios. I can't tell you how often I hear complaints about AirDrop not working from someone who disabled Bluetooth.

Exactly, that's why I hope now that IOS 11 is out for everyone.. people speak up and voice their opinions to get things like this changed. The way it is currently setup is just wrong, obviously in my opinion.
Do apple listen actually to beta testers?

I noticed this last night, as I generally don't use Bluetooth but was pissed to find it on even after turning it off.
Generally I keep the iPad in Airplane Mode and manually turn on what I need as I need it. Of course after Apple updates everything is turned on....

Apple needs to correct this behavior - off should be off.... or are we in a Unlimited Plan that's not really an Unlimited Plan territory? lol

:)

When I disable wifi I find that not too long after it turns itself back on. I have to disable it 2-3 times before it finally gets the message.

It's the universal safe zone between when people who like to stay up late go to bed and when people who like to get up early wake up. It's the new "new day" time.

agreed.
but i think 4am is the actual cutoff in life...
at 3 am people might still be at bars or leaving them.
but for early risers 5am is too late. a lot of people start their commutes by 5:30 and get up at 4 something.
so 4am would have been better, instead of 5am.

"It's 5 AM local time" -- who's the genius that put that random condition in?

One "problem" this will address, I think, is the annoying message that pops up when something uses location services while Wi-Fi is off that says, "Enable Wi-Fi for better location accuracy" or something like that. That annoying message has been driving me nuts for years. If I've turned Wi-Fi off, it's for a reason. I don't need the system to nag me about turning it on. Granted, if I use Control Center to "turn off" Wi-Fi in iOS 11, I won't be turning the radio off anymore; hence the reason the annoying message will no longer be appearing.

Reminds me "Wi-fi assist" feature.

What annoys most is Wifi and Bluetooth turn on forcibly after toggling airplane mode even if they were previously turned off. They have mastered the art of shoving down annoying features down our throat.
If someone wants off they really want off but Apple once again saying you don't know what you want. We do.

Also, location services ?? So you are still trackable ? Hmmm

Yes, but it also depends on how you write to them. If a tester just trashes a feature saying it's "crap" and Apple is going down the toilet.. I don't think they'll pay attention. However, if you give examples of how things in your opinion should work for a specific feature they do take it under-advisement. It's all in the lingo and how well you put things. I wasn't in favor of the way this particular "feature" was placed into IOS 11. I gave 8 examples of how it could be changed to work well for everyone. Their responses were all the same.. the way it currently is suits the original intended function... the end.. So that is why I hope the general public sends emails and posts on their message boards to let them know how they dislike the current way it works... not just for this but for anything to do with any of their OS.

this feature is strange, almost feels like a bug. and iOS 11 is full of bugs, unfortunately.

Until you walk or drive to new location? That’s a much to keep track of when you think it’s off.

Also, are they fully disabled in airplane mode? Did I miss mention of that?
