The Palm may be dead, but I think a Bluetooth Palm may be all that Pogue is referring to. Think about it. What does he write about the most OTHER than Macs?

Yes, you might be right. But I miss another device in all the posts which could be definitely important for Apple developers (if SonyEricsson and Symbian finally overcame the problems Psion had with syncing to the Mac):

The SonyEricsson P800 ! A Symbian 7 smartphone with Bluetooth, triple band GSM/GPRS and integrated camera. It will be out in October, will have Bluetooth and - hopefully - iSync compatability !!!

It might be the surprise thing you might expect from two companies like Apple and SonyEricsson, especially since currently only SonyEricsson mobiles phones are iSync compatible and since SonyEricsson is pushing the P800 heavily.

when was the announcement made?

Does anyone know what day the announcement was made, and when that would mean this device will be announced on? Two weeks is a pretty specific time period.
I am personally hoping for the Powerbook as I plan on purchasing one and have heard the rumblings that a new one is in production.

i had heard that the p800 won't be available until december at the earliest. it's been held back a few times now because sony-ericsson wanted to have more apps available for it.

i think it would be great if it was a phone with some sort of apple interface. microsoft will have their interface coming out on phones soon. something tells me they won't be as easy to sync with a mac. but very easy with windows thanks to microsoft "activesync".....

i'm still betting on it being updated laptops or airport cards. that way people won't have to worry about disconnecting the usb bluetooth adapter from their laptop every time the put it in a bag.
