Ordered

Just placed my order. Saved $8 with education discount but shipping cost 6 cause it took the price below the free shipping limit. What to do with the 2 bucks I saved by being thrifty!
Now I will have 2 computers and 4 mouse's (1BT, 2 wired MT's and 1 BT MT). Lucky I have friends that will take my hand me downs. :)
Shipping in 6-8 weeks in Canada, I will have forgot I ordered it by the time it arrives.

I've been checking the UK store (Higher Ed + Normal) since the announcement, the Wireless Mighty Mouse is still not up there. Are you sure you're not confusing the Mighty Mouse with the wired one? ( The Wired Mighty Mouse is is £31.73 H.E, £35.00 Retail)

Plus, I think we've already had a link to MacWorld showing the price at £49.99

Sorry for the confusion, see my edit above.

That's the normal Mighty Mouse pane. It changes to that when you're using one. I can see you've never used one...

Um, I'm using one right now. The preference pane shown on the site is different to the preference pane I have.

Here's the site:

Here's the one from my Sys Prefs:

Might want to get your eyes tested cause you're not seeing too well.

We know... it's just that Apple are taking their time to update the store. Quite interested in getting this ordered, I hope the Laser tracking means I can finally ditch my mousemat :)

one battery? how does that work?

Low power drain, it can run on one battery but runs longer on two. Might also be nice for those who found the old ones too heavy.

look at the bottom of http://www.apple.com/mightymouse

what's this?

Mighty Mouse © Viacom International Inc. All Rights Reserved.

i thought apple made them :S

Never heard of the cartoon character Mighty Mouse (Here he comes to save the daaaaaaayyyyyyyyy!!!!!). Apple had to license the name from Viacom.

oh, I forgot to mention one good thing about this mouse. Presumably it will work correctly with the option "allow bluetooth devices to wake this computer." 3rd party mice wake the computer up over and over ever since 10.4.6 when that option is checked. Of course, it would be nicer if apple would just fix their stupid OS version so that all BT mice worked correctly and not just their own...

And this is exactly why we will know in advance the arrival of the iPhone. If the FCC must approve it, someone will find the filling online a month before its release.

...and by a month, I meant a day

*cough*

3rd party mice "phone home" to the computer thus waking it up. 3rd party mice need to fix this.

Under System Requirements it doesn't mention Windows. Does this mean......?
You're right, it doesn't.

Could just mean they haven't put that info in yet, but I'd say it's a fairly good guess that because this is now bluetooth that it won't work with XP. I think this is a bad move if true, what about all those XP users on their Macs thanks to Boot Camp? (Not sure if it would work through Parrallels).

If I didn't already buy this normal Apple Wireless Mouse I'd order one now....grrr.

This is great but I do have a question..
Since it's bluetooth and Apple says it works within 30 ft.What happens if you're in a starbucks and other people have bluetooth turned on ?
Will they be able to "hack" your Mighty Mouse?

I tried the MM that came with my last computer, and I thought it sucked. Steve Jobs is brilliant, but also stubborn. He didn't want to make a 2 button mouse, so he found a way to make a mouse that didn't actually have 2 buttons, but could work like it did. I have a Logictech that works amazingly. It's comfortable, and I can do everything really fast and easy. I think most people that do/will buy the MM, do so because it's Apple.

You need to read up on how Bluetooth pairing works. The short answer is this doesn't happen. It'd be a slightly pointless protocol if the above could happen.

Different Preference Panes...

Anyone want to comment on the images I posted higher up on this page? Hopefully the regular Mighty Mouse will be getting the zoom functionality etc with an update to the MM drivers.

I pressume it's no different from every other bluetooth device, other bluetooth mice, mobile phones, headsets etc etc.

There is bound to be a way, but not common place. The usual code pairing should do the trick like every other Tom, Dick and Harry (or even Alvin, Simon and Theodore!) BT device.

Microsoft has a Wireless Laser Mouse 6000-that works on PC's and is laser too-unlike Apple that won't support those trying to get the the wireless Mighty Mouse to work on a PC. And my fav-Logitech has the G7 that works quite fine on Macs.

Finally, this is what I have been waiting for.

Not listed on UK store yet, but $69 on US store. Going by that, (being same price as shuffle), UK should be £49. Heck, that's a lot for a mouse, but only £10 more than regular BT mouse and £15 than wired MM, for that you get laser too.

Not sure how often I would use it, too comfortable with trackpad and hot corners, but I will get one anyway. Be handy for later with iMac.
