Lol, we heard the rumors yesteday, and the mouse is out today. Great service. It's 20$ more then the old wireless mouse :S, I don't know if it's worth getting.

I was suprised when I clicked apple.com this morning to see it there!

What laser tracking is used in the new Mighty Mouse-Apple in-house or Agilent?

A magnifier tool-touch sensitive would be good in a future version, for Aperture users.

I saw one person mention this (post #57) and maybe others have, but could this be more geared to soon to come home entertainment products, or hooking up existing front row products to tv? As it stands now, only have apple remote or need to use wired mighty mouse w/ keyboard. Wireless MM would seem to expand possibilities.

By "previous one" I'm assuming you mean the Wireless one button mouse and not the wired Mighty Mouse, seeing as wired mice don't use batteries. Simple answer, it's possible, but I wouldn't bet on getting better battery life.
I'd disagree, personally.

The laser tracking systems tend to be easier on batteries than the optical systems, in my experience.

For those looking at the Logitech Wireless Laser Keyboard & Mouse.

here's a little extra kick in the teeth for UK shoppers.

http://store.apple.com/Apple/WebObj...wWmSa1h1xk1CD/1.PSLID?mco=CC858338&nplm=TH291

Price £69.95 or €102.50 (that's with UK 17.5% vat)

However pop over to the Irish store and

€69.95 or £47.75 ( that's with Irisih 21% vat)

More vat, and still £22 cheaper

:D :D :D Love apple pricing....

I like the look of this keyboard and mouse, except as a left handed user I find these kind of mice absolutley useless.

Low power drain, it can run on one battery but runs longer on two. Might also be nice for those who found the old ones too heavy.
Very innovative feature from Apple. Well done Apple!! :)

Mighty Mouse is great

I don't understand people thinking the Mighty Mouse is crap. I have the one with cord and I think it is great. It has been in use since it came out without any problems what so ever. An excellent Apple product.

I tried the MM that came with my last computer, and I thought it sucked. Steve Jobs is brilliant, but also stubborn. He didn't want to make a 2 button mouse, so he found a way to make a mouse that didn't actually have 2 buttons, but could work like it did. I have a Logictech that works amazingly. It's comfortable, and I can do everything really fast and easy. I think most people that do/will buy the MM, do so because it's Apple.

I agreed. If the mighty mouse had two physical buttons and the ability to use the side buttons separately, it'd be a great product. If HP can design an iMac white mouse with real buttons that looks good, so can Apple. As is, it's just another Steve Jobs product that trades functionality for design. It's nice for general GUI use, but anything that requires a lot of mouse clicks shows the limitations of its design.

Well, it appears to allow you to magnify with the ball by holding down a key of choice. Hopefully integration into Aperture etc has already been thought of.

I have an BT mouse from MacMice aka dvForge that is just awesome. It's 2 button, with a scroll wheel, and comes in white or silver (goes great with Powerbooks/MBP's) and was $69. While I wish it was a little cheaper, I don't think that the Mighty Mouse Wireless is a bad deal.

Actually I just checked the www.dvforge.com site and the mouse I have is now $50, and they have a new version for $70 that has a smaller scroll wheel and uses rechargable batteries. It sits on a charging cradle that hooks up via mini-usb. I think that this is somewhat pointless though, since I really don't want something wired to my computer. I'd rather have the charging cradle plugged into an outlet. I think Apple made a better mouse, esp. in light of the one battery feature. Though I will say I have been very please with my mouse and at $50, it's a good buy.

so the wireless mighty mouse... at $70!?!

arg.. it came as we predicted... with the laser precision and the bluetooth.. but at $70 freakin dollars!!! not a chance, apple..

edit: hah i just realized there are a ton of threads on this.. well still.. $70!!

i ordered it at compusa for 63.49, business discount :) Still around the same price of a PC BT mouse

Yea and why don't they have an edu discount like the regular mighty mouse?? I would buy one then...

I bought a Mighty Mouse back when they first came out and I really never liked the feel of it. The pressure required by your fingers to make it "click" is way too much and I hate that there are not two "real" buttons.

Logitech and Microsoft mice feel way better to me. Anyone else agree, or am I the only one? I wonder if this new wireless one is any better???

Anyone know if the laser in this new mouse can be used as a barcode scanner?

Picked it like a dirty nose...

Apple Wireless Mighty Mouse

$109, shipping in 2-3 weeks.
