Dude trust me they don't need it, check out this website www.glbenchmark.com

The 4s is way beyond every other phone (and most tablets) out there, even the quad core firecracker of a phone Samsung calls the "S III" is barely close to matching the 4s

Your Kidding right....I am an Iphone 4s fan and user, but my buddy S3 blows it away. Sorry Mate you are wrong unless you have spent time with the S3. The battery last longer, quicker, LTE, turn by turn voice direction and the list goes on. Not trying to gloat on android, but his setup folders is just like mine on iphone. In fact he has downloaded apps from the open market to make the experience even better. I have no doubt apple will try to catch up with this new release...If not will see more people switching that have been on the fence.

"craning ur neck"? Are u kidding?? Where have u been for the last 3 months. I'm being serious. This year has produced more crystal clear leaked photos then any other. If u don't know EXACTLY what the iPhone looks like, from just about every angle, you're living in a closet. Other then the logic board, processor, ram, and maybe a few other internals, we've seen everything. And at this point I don't want to know anymore. I want some suspense on the 12th.

Its a god damn figure of speech. and to clarify, i am more interested in the internals at this point, mainly because there haven't been any good pictures of them. some one said earlier that all the photographers that took these pics desperately need lessons.

Samsung, Apple, TI, and nVidia are all using the same CPU cores.... as is anybody else using an A9 or A8 already. So you don't need to bet. :)

The thing you're missing is that you're only comparing Samsung and Apple. What you don't realize is that the general sequence of events for most of these ARM SoCs are roughly the same. The best indicator of a realistic timeframe for an A15-based iPhone is actually the OMAP 5, not the Exynos because it helps you roughly factor in the time it takes to get a PowerVR GPU integrated into the package.

The "low power trickery" is probably not between Samsung and Apple/Intrinsity, but more likely stripping out unnecessary parts before the designs are sent to Samsung to manufacture. Given that there were rumors of Apple working on getting TSMC to do test runs, Samsung's is probably not doing any design work for Apple's SoCs.

They are all using reference core design from ARM, the exception being Qualcomm among others who make their own core design conforming to a certain ARM architecture version. Having a reference core design and implementing it in your silicon process is a different matter. Apple's using Samsung fab for their chips, therefore Samsung's implementation is the only really relevant here.

Unless you go hardcore a la Qualcomm, you stick to ARM's reference design and therefore there's nothing to be gained by re-implementing the same design on the same manufacturing process twice. Sure there may be some low-power optimizations to the reference design, but those are not fundamentally altering the configuration of the chip. Besides, Intrinsity may have a long term deal with Samsung that's not affected by Apple's acquisition.

The A15 Exynos SoC is quite different, we don't know what's pushing Samsung dates on that design - it may not be the ARM core but rather something else. Apple would only really need the new ARM A15 core, the rest including their PowerVR core has already been implemented on Samsung's 32nm process in the form of the new A5 chip shipping in Apple TV & revised iPad2. The timing seems like Apple could pull this off.

You're mentioning features - but the original quote is talking about CPU speed. Two totally different things.

That's odd, because it didn't even show up until page 3 of the rankings in 49th place, and the Galaxy S III was recorded as over 20% faster than the 4S.

Did you even read the site you linked?

It's because they were taken with iPhone camera (or any other phone camera to that matter). Phone cameras suck big way when you need to shoot anything but a family photo under the perfect sun.

Doubling in secrecy...

Weeelll... so much for the doubling in secrecy! Maybe all these leaks are made on purpose and this would be the real iPhone... Its clear to me... this is the next iteration of the iPhone.

But!

I am sure this is hiding something bigger behind curtains... maybe even bigger than the halfling iPad... I hope something very exciting:):):apple:

Yeah... I agree. The S3 rocks! I however like a lot better the experience and the easy of use of the iPhone. I know one learns very fast the little details to browse and surf around the phone features, but they are for real more complicated and using more buttons or things. Also for me its the whole experience of owning a Mac and iPad along the phone. For me, it just works and blends beatifully.

I would assume due to the huge size of the chipset and the power it takes to drive quad core graphics. Sure devs could use the power, but the cons outweigh the benefits. They would be better off using a newer more power efficient dual core gpu.

Everyone seems to forget the A5X is about 50% larger then an A5 and doesn't have the ram in the package like the A5. It would quite simply way to large for a phone.

The second gen, 32nm A5 is >40% smaller than the old A5. So a second gen, 32nm A5X would probably be comparable in size to the old A5, probably small enough to support PoP RAM. And the power consumption would be significantly reduced as well.

Or maybe when he said he was doubling down on secrecy, he meant the iPhone prototypes lost in bars, not supply chain parts leaks that are almost impossible to stop.

WOW, Who cares at this point. It's an iPhone 4s with an extra row if icons. And for that, you get to buy all new chargers, docking units, cases, etc. You get to have different cables for your iPad/iPhone.

If the rumors are correct, which I am rather hesitant to believe Apple would be this lame, then I'M OUT. (as they say on Shark Tank) :)

I upgraded from 4 to 4s but I am feeling the exact same. Besides, now my contract runs out in a year so I have to wait anyway.

I hate those 'I go to Samsung' people but my wife just got an S3 ... My iPhone now feels tiny without that many geeky features.

A5x makes no sense for an iPhone. However, I'm happy about this rumor because thus far there has been almost no discussion of what chip is going in the phone. I assume an A6 or the reduced-power A5 that's in the new iPad 2, although the latter could be viewed as a "disappointment" vs. competing Android phones using either quad-core or much faster dual cores. If it's an A6, I don't know what would be in it... faster A9 cores? quad core? dual A15 cores? Don't know how Apple might be thinking here.

The new chip will be 32nm - as for faster a9 or a15, I'm hoping a15, but I think apple will use whichever solution will use less power.

Quad a9 is as fast as dual a15...anyone's guess...

Hopefully A9 or A15, as the current CPU is getting a bit long in the tooth. A5 processor is in the 4 / 4S. The iPad 3 was the first of the new A5X CPU. I think they should go for a quad core A9 processor - the same one used in the PS Vita which is a quad-core CPU / GPU in one.

Apple seems to have lost complete control of the leaks this year! Is there anything to be excited for now!?

The A5 debuted in the 4S. The iPhone 4 carries the A4 processor. So, in that regard, the A5 is only less than a year old. To my mind, power consumption and heat are the two main issues. My 4S runs smooth as silk even running graphically intensive games. I can't see the need for much more but longer battery life and less heat could come in handy.

has to use the A5X with 1 gig ram.. anything less will be sad..

no and only cause the phone still looks like a damn iphone 4 ..loll shame... "5" is a big deal number so i was expecting a big change in looks..
