I installed Bodyguardz on my new Aluminium MacBook today.

I can confirm several things:
1. It does have very nice cutting which will still allows you to access all the screws at the bottom. So, you can change RAM anytime you want.
2. I prefer BodyGuardz' material better than InvisibleShield's. It is much clearer/more transparent than the IS on my MBP.
3. It does cover all the sides too.
4. The gap between screen and keyboard is very very tight. I installed the shield on the trackpad + top left (small speaker holes) + top right (power ON/OFF button) and when I close the screen, it leaves marks on the top left+right.
5. Installation is really pain in the behind especially the TOP part. Sorry for the language. The TOP part is HUGE and has cutting so it wont cover the Apple logo. Never. never pull the shield too hard. It is plastic and it will stretch and it wont be a perfect fit. I really need 4 (FOUR) hands to do a proper job for this.
6. It is probably a good idea to install the Bottom parts with the covers taken apart from your MacBook. Depends on your skill. you will need to spray quite a lot of solution during installation. There is a possibility the solution can go into your fan slot and reach your logic board.

Great Review!

Maybe you can post some pics or a youtube video.

Then I'll be sold.

so what's the general consensus between BodyGuardz or InvisibleShield?

I have invisibleshield for my blackberry and iphoto and I like it.

Here are some pics for top and bottom.

And some more pics for Keyboard and Trackpad area. Note that I dont apply the skin for trackpad. I did it on my old MBP and I dont like the tacky feels when using the trackpad.

Also, you can see some marks left by the screen.

Nice job.

So it does feel tacky not smooth? I didnt really like that feeling from the invisashield on my ipod nano.

I want a protector like on my nintendo ds screen, smooth and hard. the brand is hori screen protector.

In your opinion do you think, your computer is well protected enough to put into a backpack with books?

Would you get a hardcase shell too?

Thanks. Actually Bodyguardz material feels pretty smooth. It it stil a bit tacky but definitely not as bad as InvisibleShield. And, it is much clearer too.

I personally dont like hardcase shell. I have been using shields for all my Macs and just put them in my backpack together with books, etc. but definitely no sharp objects.

These shields are enough to protect from accidental scratches but definitely not enough if you drop it.

You guys obviously hate anything shiny, but I think these glossy covers look absolutely fantastic. The one on my iPhone looks amazing, and feels great too. People freak out when I key my iPhone, and wipe off the marks :)

Im getting the invisible shield for the new mbp in the mail soon
i will also post pics and you guys can compare it with the body gaurd pics posted

I'd just like the parts that cover the aluminum below the keyboard.

I have to take off my metal banded watch to use it.

You can get the wrist rest only. At least with some brands.

I have the BestSkinsEver for my iPhone and really like it, but the BodyGuardz looks good b/c I think it is the only one with coverage for the sides of the casing where the drive slot and such is.

Does anyone know if InvisibleShield one has cutout for the Apple logo? Because I'd like to get that area protected too actually, rather than to leave it exposed.

Hmm, just checked the website and BodyGuardz charges $30 to ship to Australia, I guess I have to go with InvisibleShield anyway.

I had one pre-ordered from IS/Zagg, but canceled due to excessive shipping delays. I can't say for sure but, from the website it appears that the IS top covers the apple logo.

Just got my Bodyguardz a couple hours ago, the pictures above sold me on it. The packaging is a great idea: The sheets come wrapped up in a nicely sealed tube, with the solution and squeegee in the center. The sheets themselves are presented very well and look great, just like the above pics. They have a slightly tacky but smooth feel. I think they'll feel pretty good once applied. :)

I just put the bodyguardz on my macbook pro. I have it on my iphone and I think it is very well designed, I listened to the comments above and have some one help me with the top part with the apple logo, It went on perfectly. It looks beautiful. Best part about bodyguardz is that you could get a replacement for $10 fee I think

My Bodyguardz is on my MBP now, I just put it on yesterday, and it looks and feels great...Well, it looked great until I scratched it!

So there I was this morning checking my bag to get ready for a flight next week. I have the Incase Nylon bag: Pouch on the front, velcrow sleeve in the back. My work papers don't fit in the back sleeve, so I decided to fit them in with the laptop. Safe, right? Not this time. I slide the papers in and they start catching, on the bag I'm thinking: It is a snug fit, after all. So I pull them back out and immediately spot a rogue staple! The end of the staple was sharp and sticking out. I pull the laptop out and sure enough, there are three big 'ole scratches on the top cover, left side.

Thank goodness I bought the BG'z before this scratch, which was probably an inevitability, happened. I'm a little disappointed that the material scratched as deep and permanent as it did from some minor scraping from a staple: I really wasn't forcing it. But it's good to find out what it can (and more importantly, can't) handle. It looks like it did its job, though. I don't think the scratching went through to the body, and had this happened one day earlier, I would have permanent scratches on my week old MBP!

I'm interested to check out the iPod touch and nano Invisible Shields I ordered when they get here. If the material is more resistant to scratching, I really don't care what it looks like, I'll switch. Keeping this computer in top condition is far more important to me than aesthetics. As it stands now, I'll probably pop the ten bucks for a top replacement in a couple weeks.

Here's some crappy night shots of the scratching.

Moral of the story? Well you never know when something's going to happen, so be prepared! :)

definitely a little lesson for everyone that anything can happen to our precious investments. thanks for the story, i couldn't even imagine how pi$$ed i'd be if that happened to my unprotected MBP.

I received my BestSkinsEver set today and just finished installing it, overall I'm happy with the product, installation went very well. I can post pictures if you guys want.

Humm...still wondering if BodyGuardz is better?

Yes, please post some pictures.

Sorry for the late response, but here are the pictures of my MacBook Pro with BestSkinsEver. I only needed protection for the outside casing so I decided not to install the palm and trackpad area. No bubbles, installation came out perfect (or good enough for me), overall, I'm happy with the product.

Here are some installation tips,

1. I used two drops of hand soap and about 1 1/2 cups of water for the solution.
2. Use a lot of solution, but at the same time be careful it doesn't leak into the MacBook during installation.
3. I recommend doing the bottom first, and also you should remove the bottom casing before applying the skin.
4. After installation is completed, let it sit for at least 24 hours.

wow the BSE looks amazing
do u guys know if Invisible shield covers the screw holes?
i still didnt get my IS in yet... -_-
