Something tells me it will go just a BIT beyond a colonial secretary telling Bond the story behind a tired old woman . . . :D
It'll have to. I just finished reading the story (only about 23 pages long) and, although it is a great little story with a nice twist at the end, it's hard to imagine that can be the whole of the movie.

P.S. It was the Governor of the Bahamas, actually, that was telling Bond the story. And not really of a tired old woman but a young couple instead.

P.S.S. I'm very interested to see how they work the concept of the Quantum of Solace from the story into the movie.

I haven't read it in many years, so my memory was a bit fuzzy. Although I do think the story starts with Bond saying that if he ever married, he'd marry an airline stewardess, right?

He's got such a rascally handsome smile.

Thanks to seeing this thread earlier in the day, I just had to re-watch Casino Royale. Mmm, just as fun the third time as the first. :D

All this talk and no mention of the Bond girl? What, are you all insane?!

Olga Kurylenko = astoundingly hot.

I can't wait to see this!!!:D:D:D

Q and Moneypenny are not in it? that blows:mad:

nah its good.

hopefully it will be like casino royale and not have a bunch of ridiculous gadgets (like die another day, etc).

nah its good.

Nah, it's bad. Q and Moneypenny in the earlier movies are solid additions. Agree on the absurdity of some of the later gadgetry, though--it got out of hand and interfered with, rather than helping, the movie.

So her parents cursed her with "Olga" for a name, but must have known it would be needed to counter the hawtness factor. ;) :D

Hmmm... will have to pick up the short story, it sounds quite intriguing!

No other reason for it... and Gemma Arterton isn't exactly unattractive either :D

Probably not, pull out a dictionary.

What??

I can't quite remember where I heard it, but I'm sure someone said that a 'quantum' is another word for a measure or amount of something.

Specifically, a 'quantum of solace' being a measure of peace found in a woman's eyes...

...which fits in with the earlier post about Bond trying to get over Vesper's death.

The producers or whoever names the Bond franchises are having a laugh right? Is it April 1st?

It's not that unreasonable actually, being that "Quantum of Solace" was the name of an actual short story which Ian Fleming (aka the creator of Bond) wrote for Cosmopolitan magazine. That being said, it wasn't a Bond story (although Bond was in it as a minor character) and didn't have anything to do with secret agents and the like I believe.

Regardless, the point is, it's not like this title was made up or pulled out of thin air. There is a connection.

I stand corrected. ( )

Still, it is a TERRIBLE title!
