Without revealing the plot, does the story carried on from CR come to a conclusion or will there be another instalment?

It ties it up, which is why I see it as an important stepping-stone. The new Bond is now announced, let's press on from here.

Saw it tonight... just opened in the States

It was good... maybe even real good
But I don't think it was as good as Casino Royale

The characters never really developed for me
There was not near the angst I anticipated either

Lots of action and lots of killing
I heard somewhere that Moore said his Bond was a lover but this one is a killer
The reviewer corrected "lover" to "womanizer" ;)

I like the new direction to Bond
But there needs to be less "fast paced, can't keep up with the action" sequences and more dialogue and development

As much as i want to, i really didn't like it.

Far to fast paced. Way too much action. I respect all the "killing" and such because it's the "new" bond, but there was never anytime to breath in the movie.

All that and i had no idea what the hell was going on.

But the ending was cute :p

I liked it ... lots of action, way cool stunts ...

Plot? Could almost follow it. Villain? Quantum seems to be a viable replacement to Spectre, but Dominic Greene ... well, he ain't no Goldfinger.

What was up with Olga Kurylenko's back? I kept thinking it must tie in with her character's past (maybe the fire?) but it's never spelled out?

Best part of movie? As much as I liked it, the Star Trek trailer was the best part. ::)

I saw it when it came out. I loved it, mainly because I didn't expect something on a par with Casino Royale - it would be seriously difficult to match it.

The thing I just don't get is the way people say Bond is too cold hearted in the new films.

Did you ever read the original books? He was a cold hearted bastard. This "new direction" is the way I've always wanted to see it.

I agree, this Bond is far more like I saw him in the books
While I enjoyed Connery, I never warmed to Moore
The old Bond movies were campy and fun
These are more interesting and engaging

Did anyone notice the newly updated MGM Lion at the start of the film?

Leo, as they call him, was digitally restored from the original film and recordings from 1958, and Quantum of Solace was the first use of the new version.

Leo was the 5th lion used for the opening MGM logo. The first lion, without sound, was used in 1917. The roar was added in 1928.

Saw it on opening night - good, but not as good as the latter half of Casino Royale. That said, I think matching the tenseness of the poker game and fallout would be very tough to do.

I enjoyed Quantum. I think a lot of the people that didn't are people expecting the old James Bond. Well, this isn't the same Bond your father watched (although I adored the homage to Goldfinger), but it's very, very good in its own right.

I love the direction they've taken Bond's character.

And did any of the other Canadians in the crowd just love the nod at CSIS and the Canadian's agents parting words at the end? Our theater cheered at that one...

Ok, anyone else notice the crotch shot? Um, ew! I didn't want to see the movie to begin with but had to (long story)....

I thought this movie was below average. Two things really hurt it for me; an overbooked theater and being in the second row from the front. It seams like you have to pre-order your tickets and arrive at the theater an hour before a movie starts nowadays....

StarTrek trailer was indeed awesome.

The General burned down her house when she was younger, with her inside.

Also the reason for her extreme reaction to being in the burning room near the end of the movie.

I saw it at midnight last thursday night/friday morning and loved it. The hard thing to grasp was the 'good' side of bond, he actually has love for a woman who is killed, when in other movies he is just using most of them. The opening scene was simply stunning and the ending led me to believe there will be a third part. The use of real world technology was the smart decision for Broccoli and Forster, it really gave the viewer something to look forward to that could actually be real, unlike laser watches etc. I can't really make a choice on which is better, if you like more action then Royale, but this one you got to really get into who Bond is which you don't generally see... I would see it again lol :p

That's what I figured, but a line of dialog would have helped.

she did say that though....

haha no i didnt. i guess i was just accustomed to the suaveness of the more recent bonds lol

I don't really see why you need to be explicitly told everything in the movie. It isn't like normal people go running around explaining everything in real life. I like a movie that treats you like a thinking person rather than having to explain everything in such boring details because it thinks you're a cabbage.

I just saw it, and liked it. It wasn't as good as Casino Royale, but I didn't expect it to be. Maybe a little *too* action packed, but all in all an enjoyable two hours.

Lot's of motion, very little action. You need moments of stillness to bring out action. It wasn't as smooth as it should have been.
There was a possibility of playing up the Bond's interactions with M and Mathias as his missing mother and father but this fell flat and awkward.
Not as bad as the recent Indiana Jones, but very disappointing. I left shaken, but not stirred.
