I believe this movie was originally supposed to be a November 2019 release before the delays.
I believe I did read that.

I know they've moved the date before, at times in hopes of making more money, like a tentpole franchise. It makes sense for this one, as it's advertised as a finale.

Interesting, the movie has been delayed inevitably, but yet tonight on TV, There was a quick ‘teaser trailer’ for Bond in April 2020 and a Heineken commercial with Daniel Craig. You think the cable network providers would’ve received the memo ASAP on this delay to remove any publications.

Checks were already cashed I'd imagine. Besides, they can amp up the release for the next several months. I'm sure you can wait another 5-7 months for a sweating, bleeding James Bond.

I think you mean indefinitely, but it does have a studio scheduled release of Nov 2020 - from the official Bond new/info site:

MGM, Universal and Bond producers, Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli, announced today that after careful consideration and thorough evaluation of the global theatrical marketplace, the release of No Time To Die will be postponed until November 2020. The film will be released in the U.K. on November 12, 2020 with worldwide release dates to follow, including the US launch on November 25, 2020.

Truth be told, I was actually looking forward to this film. But, If anything, this only delays overall sales for this film, especially being now it will launch during the holiday season, [which if I recall correctly], one of the previous Bond films with Daniel Craig launched right before Thanksgiving and smashed the box office.

I'm just hoping to go away from the angst ridden dystopian Bond movies. I'd rather go back to the tongue in cheek 60's and 70's style. With over the top sets and completely unrealistic weapons. Like dart watches, submarine cars, lasers, undersea bases, &c. Villains with plans of world domination. Without $100 million in CGI. Bring back the camp.

I purchased advanced No Time To Die tickets for an AMC theater, so I wondered if they would notify me that the showing was delayed or canceled. Instead, they've been silent. When I view my ticket online, it shows the ticket, with a date of "Sorry, an error has occurred. Please try again." Maybe I should keep reloading the page every few minutes until November. ;)

Daniel Craig is hosting SNL tonight. They were not planning on a delayed opening when he was booked to host.

I could be wrong but the last set of bond movies with Daniel Craig all seem to have the same vibe.

Bond goes off on his own, M things he's gone rogue, he works to uncover a plot, Mi6/CIA almost captures him, he provides evidence to M and then gets the bad guys.

Seeing the trailer, my assessment doesn't see terribly off for this new one.

Craig's bond has always been more distrust worthy of authority.

Movie has been pushed back to November 25.

I have seen several articles about rumors stating that the delay is not just due to CV, but also because of the need of reshoots after bad test screenings. Basically insiders saying that even if CV didn't exist, that there would have been delays regardless.

According to the rumor, there are now almost two weeks of reshoots scheduled.

I am not sure if it is true, but either way, I would rather them delay it and get it right, then to release it screwed up.

I would personally prefer multiple delays to get the movie right than release a bad or disappointing movie.

Obviously the pandemic would be to blame for the delays, but according to the rumors, the movie was going to be delayed regardless of COVID-19 for a lot of reshoots due to bad test screenings.

The rumors basically said that the test screeners did not like how Bond was portrayed in the film, and without getting into PRSI stuff, the 25th Bond movie originally was following a similar template of many big franchise movies from the last four years, almost all underperformed or just bombed.

On the heals of those box office bombs and horrible test screener results must have prompted the massive reshoots.

So, I would much rather the movie be late and great than bad and sad.

Pretty sure betting might be against the forum rules on this website.😁

Anyways, it would be an absolute travesty to release a film with no audience right now given that the pandemic is not in control, and movie theaters are not a safe environment, and even with a ‘soft re-opening‘ for some movie theaters, they lasted less than three weeks before having another shut down due to regional outbreaks. Movies like ‘No time to die’ and ‘Dune’ (Now delayed until October 2021) deserve the box office premier for a large audience, given how much work actually is embedded into these films.

In Terms of movies, I like to consider myself somebody that actually sees quality work, and I can’t imagine being a director allowing such a project to be shafted with no audience. I would happily delay my film as long as it takes to gain the audience it deserves. That said, no matter when NTTD is actually released, it will still draw the same crowd that it would have next month.

If there is any Bond fans out there that like physical media (or Plex server like me), I recommend the James Bond Blu-Ray Collection.

I picked it up a few months back when Best Buy had it for sale for $89.99, but it is currently for sale on at Best Buy for $99:

It is well worth the price.

It includes really well done remasters of the 24 official 007 movies. So no Never Say Never Again. I know a lot of people didn't like that movie, but I did. Maybe because I love Vicki Vale.

Anyways, the Blu-Ray version of the movies look awesome, and was clearly remastered by a team that actually cared.

If you have the old DVD collection like me, the special features are mostly identical, but I still think it would be worth it to get the Blu-Ray collection.

I think that the fear is that the 007 assigned to a female could be seen as a trojan horse for a 007 Jane Bond in the future. Who knows. Usually this stuff doesn't work well, hopefully the writers will not make it something just for the sake of it.

just up to this thread now.

I think it’s more of a fear thing. Us men would find it very odd for an opposite of a womanizer in a lead spy being a female.

while I’m sure we’re cool with a Rhonda Rousey bad ass looking hot as she did in Fast & The Furious 7 whom can bang out most rough guys and look good in the movie, it would shake society expectations and staples for such a woman to pickup random men hookup, and move on the next morning whilst the dude is still sleeping lol. Some of us would be so down to see that ;)

yet most importantly, as you’ve stated @yaxomoxay the writing and entirestory would and MUST be done just write!

by example almost every heroin role that is first done by a male fails in Hollywood or on comics:

The Six Million Dollar Man (Bionic Woman).
Superman (supergirl movies. The latest TV show is doing well yet STILL neeed that Superman credentials in the first few shows even if they never showed the face of Superman. Plus it’s the 6th comic TV show to come out after Arrow, Flash, etc).
Batman (batgirl)
DareDevil (and that girl with pair of scai in the movie).

WonderWoman is unique as she was not modelled after a male character for the same role or storyline or arch. Very successful in comics, TV shows (Linda Carter) and especially in the movies - yet understand she’s more feminine in a svelte physique like a swimsuit model in the movies than she is in the comics (more muscular).

Charlie’s Angels is also unique, despite the similarities of The Man from Uncle or similar TV shows. The TV show series of the 70’s was much better than either movie edition released. Again due to the better writing and better character development va too much comedy and wise cracking in the movies and too much about girl power as well. The TV just showed how powerful the woman were based on their character, skills and beauty used as a ploy for infiltration vs girl power just for the sake of being just that.

Joker (Harleyquinn is a unique situation as she was written from the cartoon shows in the 90’s not the comics and was well received) yet still not bankable or successful in movies ;) as shown with Birds of Prey.)

so a female 007 could be done, calle like Ghost In The Shell’s heroin, and stealthy and ruthless like Salt and the more recent and similar movie to Salt with a redhead (movie title escapes me) or like the Netflix TV show The Gaurd’s female lead heroin - knowledgeable tactical and skillful. But it’s all important in character depth and development for the audience and script, plot etc.

Superman (supergirl movies. The latest TV show is doing well
The Supergirl TV show was not doing well, poor ratings (objective), even worse quality (subjective).

Also, it was also just cancelled.

I watch it for a while, and catch an episode here and there, but the writing on the show is just not good.

and that girl with pair of scai in the movie
Watch the Director's Cut, it is much better than the theatrical version.

I think a problem that rarely gets mentioned is that Hollywood is taking successful IPs and try to gender swap thinking that is what people want to see.

I agree that being done right is important, but I question if it should be done at all.

Why not just create a new character, a new story, or even an existing IP, but without all the swapping? I think it is just content creators are getting lazy, why create something new, when you can just use what already exists and change some details.

When it comes to 007, I wouldn't mind seeing a spin off with a woman lead, but I wouldn't want James Bond to be replaced with a woman just for the sake of replacing a man with a woman.

I have been a long time fan of woman-led action movies, and at one time, they were kind of rare, but now, there are a crap load of female-led action movies, and watching a 90lbs woman throw 200lbs men is starting to get a little old.

I think the Birds of Prey movie is a good example of how to not do a movie right, and also on how to waste money. The poor performance may have played a part in the reshoots on Bond 25.

I loved Batman: The Animated Series when I was a teenager, and Harely Quinn was one of my favorite characters from it.

I think the character of Harely Quinn is best as a sidekick to Joker or in a pair up with someone like Poison Ivy. I think she was probably the best part of Suicide Squad.

But, she really isn't a solo lead character, and while it was suppose to be her with the Birds of Prey, hardly no one knows who the Birds of Prey are.

I think if Harely Quinn was in a movie with another well known character from Batman, it probably would have done a lot better.

It just comes back to doing it right, and Birds of Prey, and the rest of the ridiculous name was not doing it right.

No Time to Die has been pushed back again to October 2021.
It was set to open on April 2. Now, it is planning to hit the big screen on Oct. 8 as Hollywood faces more delays before moviegoing resumes in earnest. No Time to Die is likely to spark another wave of high-profile moves among spring and early summer movies.

I guess they don't want to risk a streaming release. Makes sense, I can't picture any of those direct to stream movies came close to their expected theater returns.

They said they won't stream it. I even wonder if they hit the release date in October.
