We talk all the time about wishing that manufacturers would do X to the cases. Why would it get anyone's shorts in a bunch to wish that a company might offer a non-leather option? You don't have to buy it, right?

As I said, there are other manufacturers who make book-like cases out of other products such as linen, waxed canvas, etc. If someone wants to expand their market, it doesn't hurt to ask them if they have any plans to make book-like cases made out of animal-friendly products.

I assume you both have asked Twelve South to produce such a product?

I did, in multiple ways, actually. I very much like the styling of the Bookbook, and I haven't found one that suits me quite as much that is not a leather product. So, I figured it doesn't hurt to ask.

Thats not a "bookbook" case but...the "bookbook" is specifically a Twelve South case.

bookbook for iphone 4 was my permanent case/wallet. i couldn't wait another month so I went ahead and ordered the knock off from ebay. will post pics once it arrives.

Totally agree. I owned the bookbook for my iPhone 4, but couldn't wait for them to come out with the new version. Other companies were able to get theirs out, so I'm not sure why Twelve South dragged their feet on this one. My DODOcase wallet will be here next week.

Andrew Green from Twelve South said on Twitter that it'll ship in November: https://twitter.com/andrewbg/status/257840406363000832

I also hoped that they release it sooner, but I'll wait since I was quite satisfied with the case (- though I shoot less images the advantages outweighed this minus point, c.f. the times I haven't forgot my wallet because my case was my wallet).

I ordered the same, though I also recognize that Dodo and TwelveSouth make two different products. The iPhone wallet from Dodo isn't necessarily a wallet in my eyes, more just a sleeve within a sleeve for a few cards and some cash.

I will say that the BookBook holds its value extraordinarily well. I sold a 6 month old BookBook for half of what I paid. I was satisfied with that result.

I was ready for a change from the BookBook anyway though and am anxiously awaiting my case from Dodo.

Waiting as well, my case I bought from home living dream is wearing out already. I need a bookbook or a wallet type case that holds it value and can last for a couple years. They need to hurry up and update us.

I guess when they said it will ship in November they mean Nov 30th, or maybe Nov 2013? Come on Twelve South, anxiously waiting

This is now out and up on their website.

It does look a little different, besides being taller with an extra card slot and thinner along with a camera hole.

It seems like it won't be as easy to take the phone out now, because there's a different framing around it now. I guess they figured since there's a camera hole, people won't need to take the phone out. I personally wouldn't need to, but that was a topic of debate in this thread.

The brown also looks better this time around, at least in my opinion. I think it looks good, although some are going to complain how the framing around the phone isn't the same.

Who had the older 4 or 4s in black? Was the brown better quality?

This would be my first BookBook, but I said that purely from an aesthetic standpoint. I doubt there is a difference in the leather quality, just different colors. However every BookBook is handmade, so there are bound to be differences.

They are being produced in China now...

I was anxiously awaiting this email that it was available. I am not a huge fan of the new way the phone is held in so I'm gonna pass on it. I really liked the leather protecting the top and bottom like the old case. Looks like the search continues.

Same here. I was all set to order one as well. But I also do not like the new set up with the phone. I also will pass. I will look for something else now. Disappointed.

Not trying to thread jack here. But if you are looking for something different check out Pad and Quill. They are local to me and I really liked the different book design. I will say by far the nicest quality case I have every used. And I have used a lot of them. Sorry if I'm not allowed to post this in here.

On order! I have the case for the 4, but really was hoping they would take a new approach for holding the phone as they did with the 5. I just wish they would adopt the same thing for the iPad cases.

I mainly use my BookBook cases when I travel. Nice to have the extra protection when I put them in a briefcase.
