1. This bug is resolved in iPhoto 9.2 Beta.

2. I can't reproduce this bug.

3. I can't reproduce this bug ;).

That is great that you can't repeat the bug, but it does not mean they don't exist. Maybe dependant on the hardware I have, graphics card, etc.

The definition Apple uses of GM does not necessarily mean it is the final product. For example, Apple posted a second GM build for iOS 4.2.

No, Apple has the same definition of GM as everyone else. The first GM was iOS 4.2.0, and this GM is OS 10.7.0. GM means it's been signed off.

What happened with 4.2 is that they discovered a late release blocker. The patched version then had its own version number 4.2.1 (because signoff on GM had already happened).

This IS 10.7.0. You will not see another build with that version number.

I am missing the welcome video though. Although to be fair, it doesn't make as much sense from an AppStore download (you're already using your Mac - why another welcome to OSX video?), maybe it will come on Macs with Lion preinstalled (OOBE).

To Dual Screen People

Apple kind of deprived people who use a Dual Screen setup.
When you use an application in Full Screen mode, the second screen gets the grey linen background automatically and you can't use it whatsoever (except for moving your mouse cursor there, (yet?)), kind of bumps me out, because I really like both using a Dual Screen setup and full screen apps.

They should've allowed users to run two apps in full screen side-by-side if you have a dual screen setup, or have some kind of use for the second screen for the same app (for example, have two tabs side-by-side in Safari, have the next month/week/day in iCal on the second screen etc).

"Exodus Honey" by Honeycut

Thanks for revealing the title and artist for the music: "Exodus Honey" by Honeycut. That got me to go to iTunes and buy it and then, ambling around iTunes, I bought four albums of oldies songs I've not heard in years. Made my day!

Maybe someone can tell us if the video is only present when doing a clean install of Lion? I found in another thread that the .dmg file is still inside the Lion installer.app package which hopefully means that you CAN still do a clean install as was possible with previous versions...

Would be nice if some kind dev could give this a go.

Why did you install Tiger on a machine to upgrade to Snow Leopard? Just put the snow leopard disk in, press C at start up, Erase the disk and install Snow Leopard from scratch..making sure you have backed up files previously on there.

I was having a hell of time getting Tiger on an old Mac Book to upgrade to Snow Leopard last week, so I took to a Genius Bar. They sold me a "Mac Box Set" and I decided to sit there for 40 minutes and do the install in the store to make sure it worked.

When the time came for the intro video to play, the Apple Store employees actually rolled their eyes in disgust and asked me to turn it down. Nobody likes that video!

This has been mentioned over a million times and Apple seems to be reluctant to fix it. :( That's why I'll hold off from upgrading to 10.7.

I am about a day away from purchasing a
27" Cinema Display to compliment my 27" iMac.

Am I understanding this correctly?

Lion makes it difficult to use dual displays?

You won't be able to run an application on one
full screen and an application on another screen
at the same time?

EDIT: I am reading the thread now

I can also confirm that the dvd is bootable and it allows a clean install, without having to install Snow Leopard before.

That's great news. Do you happen to know if this is possible through using a memory stick? My MacBook Pro drive can't write anymore.

Thanks again! Great news.
Can you recall if there was an intro video when you did the clean install? I'm thinking that it's not there if you go the 'upgrade' route via the app store, but it might be there if you do a clean install of Lion via a DVD or USB drive? Not too bothered if it's not there, just curious really.

I will be doing a clean install when I get it that's for sure! Thanks.

You can use Lion with a dual-display setup as usual, as long as you don't use the full-screen mode in apps, that will make the secondary screen have a linen background with nothing showing on it.
Other than that though, Lion works perfectly with a dual-screen setup.

I really hope some developer or Apple themselves come up with a fix for this to allow us dual-screen users to use full-screen apps without giving up on the dual-screen setup that is so good for your workflow.

Welcome Note

The video may not add any systems value or usability, but there was something nice about turning the machine on for the first time and watching the video...:)

that was an extremely rare exception caused by uncovering a late bug that couldn't wait until 4.2.1. GM means it's the version they plan to ship. They are likely already installing it on the new MacBook Air machines preparing for launch.

Thats interesting. It means that now OS X is only around 4GB whilst SL was around 6GB

Aww, I'll miss seeing a welcome video if/when I finally upgrade to Lion, it was always fun to watch it the first time you started up a new mac or installed the OS.

Where's the Welcome Video..?

As most people installing Lion will already have SnoLep [which came with the welcome video] installed, then all Apple would have to do, if they REALLY wanted to, would be to link to the existing video on the users hard drive!

and... Boom as Steve would say!

I'm actually wondering this - Lion is the king of the cats - so is this the last version of Mac OS X that we will see?

What's next, Mac OS iCloud in 3D? or will they just start code-naming them with a different species from now on? Will there even be another new Mac OS system?

Anyway, roll on July 14th or whenever!

what?! no welcome video?! time to start a riot!

i don't really see the point of the video anymore. sure it might seem nice, but let's be serious, do you really want to spend an extra couple of minutes sitting there and watching what you already saw in your copy of leopard or snow leopard? most of the new computers will come with lion installed, so the video would make sense on there, but if you're installing it from the app store, then chances are that you already saw the video, so it's just a waste of time.

Exodus Honey

The full song is amazing. Too bad the lyrics never made it to the general public. Honeycut is a great band. And little know fact: the beats and breaks are played live on an Akai MPC.

The intro is a great staple of Apple's and I'd miss it. Makes you feel special, whether you're a new user or an experienced one. And given that this time around, we're getting the highest percentage of new users, making them feel welcome is important.

Maybe they decided at the last minute to rework it, the animation and/or the song, and couldn't include it in the GM and previous versions...

......Freeze ....Bomb ....Restart ........Extensions Manager .....check for conflicts

Those were the good old days. Mine even used to say tarting up. Yes, tarting up. It was so bad it couldn't manage the S.

A great staple, what planet are you on. It was in Leopard and Snow Leopard, that's it.
