If you're going to take the cynical viewpoint you may as well apply it to Apple as well. Just getting by in terms of performance but making life easier for the end user. That's Apple, no? They're more alike than they are different.

Well my position is actually that Beats (at least pre-apple) and Bose are poor performers - they capitalize on hype and celebrity and marketing to drive popularity.

Apple on the other hand, generally does a decent job making a quality product. They also capitalize on hype and marketing. But the iphone, the mac pro, etc - they are generally pretty solid, l well engineered, good performing products.

Depending on what you're looking for, Bose has very little competition in what appears to be its target market. They have a number of products that are very good for their combination of size and price. As for Apple, you can get much better performance out of similarly priced enterprise workstations or servers. That's not to say Apple is bad but you have to factor in other aspects of the ownership experience to see the value.

You really want to go there? Ever even heard a good quality product before as it's clear as a whistle that both products/branders are inferior quality for a premium price.

For Starters:

Grado
Beyerdynamic
Audio Technica
Sennheiser
HiFiMAN
AKG
Denon
Fostex
B&W
Ultrasone
Stax
Shure
Audeze

Wasn't expecting such an extensive list. Very nice. Appreciate it. I've only heard of Sennheiser.

I sort of always knew Beats was overrated and overpriced, but I didn't realize so was Bose. This is good information for the future. Thank you.
