people are really good at shrink wrapping back to like new form and returning the games. Usually the people at returns are too lazy to open the game and just put it back on the shelf..got burned once in the 90's on a wu tang cd this way. inside was a aol free trial cd

I wonder how many of the stores that open plastic wrapped itms to verify content have the ability to re wrap them? My perception is that once it's opened, it can't be sold as new unless it's rewrapped.

Anything new from Walmart yet? Could go through the BBB as another tip.

Nothing yet. I was going to stop by the walmart today but the manager (whos supposed to give me a call) is out till Monday.

I will wait till Monday before I ask to escalate this to the district manager.

Might even point them to this thread and show them that I made a thread regarding this THAT night.

For what it's worth, just saw something on my news feed on Facebook that someone photocopied a disc and used the piece of paper to return it at the kiosk and kept the physical disc. Looks like its becoming more prevalent now. Good luck.

If something looks like it's factory sealed (and has not been tampered with) I would be really, really surprised if a store employee would ever break the seal to verify the contents. Typically if it's unopened the store can just put it back on the shelf and sell it as new for full price. If it's opened it either gets discounted for being an open box/used item or it has to get processed and sent back as a return to the manufacturer/supplier.

ipodlover77,
Your situation sucks but I doubt it you will get your money back from Walmart. As another poster mentioned, look at it from their perspective and what you are telling them seems super fishy. On the flip side, if you are hell bent on getting your money back from Walmart find out the phone number of the district manager and call that office. If the district manager can't help you then find out the phone number of the regional manager and call that office.

Eventually you'll get someone on the phone that will 1. give you whatever you want just to make you go away and 2. will be so pissed about having to deal with the situation that they will put a black mark on the record of everyone that everyone below them that did not refund your money (even if company policy clearly states that in your situation money should not be refunded). I worked retail long enough to know full well that corporate will stab it's employee's in the back at the drop of a hat if a customer gets annoying enough.;)

This happened to me twice. Once a very long time ago with a DVD from a HMV store (2003), and another was a bluray from Amazon a couple of years ago. Both had the same type of media inside. Complained and got my money back on both on the spot.

Amazon in general have been pretty spotty with me. In the same time period they've sent me the completely wrong item or multiple copies of the same thing (that I report and get to keep afterwards).

Anywho. Subscribing to this thread because I want to see how it turns out!

wow that is a tough spot to be in... Let's see how nice this manager is I'd be very surprised if he lets you exchange it. It makes me want to open everything at the store to make sure everything is intact
