It feels like a slap in the face? You got an awesome computer for your birthday, and it's still an awesome computer today. Wow.......

Yea, I know. I have very conflicting feelings right now. But if I can't exchange I won't be sad cause this computer is great. Just want to know the what-ifs. :)

sorry to beat a dead horse but wow..the new MBP DID come out today..I really like the 250GB hard drive and 10 hour battery, that is something I would've definitely taken advantage of..

Relax mate ... I bought my MBP three weeks ago and to be honest I'm not too disappointed since this wasn't the "major" update everybody expected... I will say as long as you don't use your MBP for heavy gaming you will not notice the performance increase in real life!

Also, you will never get 10 hours of battery-life in real world conditions, just like I never experienced 8 hours of battery-life that apple claims for the 17" model... Divide the number apple claims by 2 and thats what you will get in reality!

On the HDD part, buy a new HDD and built it in yourself, its way cheaper! I will receive my 7200rpm HDD tomorrow and also upgrade it myself... I also plan to install 8GB of ram somewhere next year when the 4GB modules are cheaper...

Enjoy your MBP! If you need absolute performance, buy a windows gaming laptop! It will even be cheaper...

well if it is a gift and you didn't pay, why did you say "bought my MBP" in the thread title. I just find it "ironic" that people complain about little things they didn't pay for.

Again, the HDD is user replaceable on your model. Go pay $90 for a 500Gb 7200rpm drive, and sell your stock one. Problem solved.

yep I talked to an apple rep and it seals my fate with my current model. I'm gonna go ahead with the hard drive upgrade then.

here's what happened, in case anyone within a 30 day window has questions..

Me: I bought a Macbook pro last month and noticed that yesterday a new model came out
is there anything I can do?

Marco: You have 14 calendar days to return your product. I do apologize but you are outside of the 14 day return policy.
Unfortunately there is nothing that can be done.

Me: Could I pay more for an upgrade?
I have the 13 inch model and am willing to go to the 15 inch model, is there a way I can exchange and pay the difference for the 15?

Marco: At present, there is no trade-in or exchange program available for older Apple products on the Apple Online Store.

So there you have it.

man what the hell. this blows. how much can i sell mine for?? what is the average sell price? i have 4gb of ram in it I upgraded.

I feel your pain, I bought my Macbook about 2 weeks before they upgraded because I didn't know any better, and I didn't think to check because I was desperate for a laptop (I had sold my old one already). Now I keep my eye on this link... https://buyersguide.macrumors.com//#MacBook_Pro

But like some others have said, I am sure your machine is still fantasic! I am still using my black Macbook of 3 years ago. Although I am tempted to buy now, this one still works PERFECT. I am trying to hold out until just before I graduate next year (so I can still get the student discount). There could be another 2 updates by then.

if you have trouble sleeping over this sell yours on ebay, get the new one. that's it. i don't see what the problem is.

Yea I feel like the chat helped put to rest any lingering feelings of regret. I checked all options and I cannot get a discount in an exchange. So I am going to keep my MBP, I should be grateful to have one! This is the best laptop I have ever used and should never feel spoiled :D. I still love Apple products and will now have to pay attention to this site :apple:. Next thing to do now is see how to install a bigger HD.
