how is that even remotely offensive I was just being honest. You are obviously VERY naive good luck![]()
Dont disclose any of your private information to anyone your not sure of.
If they push for other peoples details then tell them to do that would beach the data protection act and advise them to contact the local police where you are.
If its a scam then thats where it will end.
I would then think about changing your e mail address or inform your local police of all of this.
Its not down to you to pursue them.
Unfortunately even tho you have paid good money for a product, if that product is stolen then its still the property of the originals owner.
Good luck.
...follow through with this just to see where it leads. Just don't share any personally identifying info. No need to fear legal ramifications, IMHO -- if you're in Greece.
If it's legitimate, the sheriff will contact eBay/PayPal and they'll cooperate fully with a theft investigation.
I used to live in Castle Rock, so I can confirm that the sheriff's department is at http://www.dcsheriff.net/.
The only reason I can think this detective is investigating is that maybe the seller lives in Douglas County, or the victim did.
BTW, there's an app for that: http://www.apple.com/webapps/news/douglascountysheriffinfo.html![]()
i did a weesearch online and found out taht the seller is located in ...colorado
tahts why i have a few doubts that this is a scam
Contact Apple yourself and find out if your iphone is stolen and/or if this is a scam or not - you can find out definitively one way or another and end any conjecture. Don't try to contact this individual until you do so.
If you determine that your phone was indeed stolen by Apple - coordinate with them to pass the details of your eBay transaction and let Apple, eBay, Paypal, the seller, and the law enforcement there in the US sort out the details between them. If you say you purchased this through a "reputable" eBayer - perhaps THEY will give you a refund or credit towards a replacement.
Another option is to see if Apple would assist you in replacing your phone for a discounted price in return for your loss and cooperation.
Lastly - have a thick skin for the comments on a public board. I have a saying that has carried me through 29years of service in the US Navy - "Don't roll in the mud with pigs! You both get dirty and the pigs like it!" I'm not at all saying that someone here is a pig - not at all. But if YOU think there are...apply the rule!![]()
Good luck!
i just have their email with all their contact details whioch i can post here
Detective Tony Garza
Douglas County Sheriffs Office
4000 Justice Way
Castle Rock, Colorado 80109
Office: 303-784-7840
Fax: 303-688-4939
i just called thiis number on the sheriffs office and it was on voicemail with his voice and name lettimng people know his timetable
somehow i belive that this isnt a scam but dont know to whom i should actually talk!
Well, if you contact them via their website (not using the number you were provided and the number is verified via another source such as another city government website, etc) - get a hold of the Deputy that way. It's more reliable.
Pass him the eBay transaction ID only and let him know that you're uncomfortable with passing any other personal details over the phone/online, etc but that you're absolutely willing to cooperate. Really surprised your phone wasn't bricked by Apple.
It's Sunday so you may not get hold of anyone until tomorrow.
Greenapple, let it go. Continue on with your life and your iPhone.
Apple doesn't care. You are under no obligation to assist the Castle Rock police in their investigation. No one is going to deactivate your phone. No one is going to subpoena or extradite you to this country. No one is going to cut off your phone service.
You are placing yourself under way too much stress. Yes, it appears your iPhone was stolen...and Apple really doesn't care anymore; you shouldn't either.
