But then after holding the Max in your hand, one almost loathes the XS, how to get over that ? lol !!

I actually enjoy it. I was a plus user for multiple generations of iPhones. The X and XS just hit that perfect size for me. I get a pretty dang big screen in a pretty compact device. At the same time, I get to sacrifice zero specs with it.

I have big hands and the xs max is technically more comfy when typing. But something about it makes it feel more unweildy than even my iPhone 8+. I’m pretty mobile so many times it’s hard to just whip out my phone.

If it feels unwieldy, it's likely cause the bezels are missing that were on the Plus. It takes more reachability to get to the top or bottom. It's also a little heavier than the iPhone 8 Plus (which last year was already the heaviest iPhone).

True. It is a super heavy phone.

Well said. I ran most of the betas of 12 and used the GM until the first beta of 12.1 dropped and it's been an all-around pleasurable experience. Have people already forgotten how bad iOS 11 was all year?

In regards to the Max (gotta touch on the thread topic), this is the first year that I've had zero desire to upgrade. Every year I tell myself I'm keeping what I have and putting the money toward something more practical but up until this year I've always ended up either pre-ordering or breaking down a couple of weeks later after the want gets too strong for me.

As of right now, the want hasn't even begun to creep in. Maybe it's because I squashed my upgrade bug with my Series 4 Watch. All of that said, if I were to upgrade I'd 100% be going for the XS as the X has been an absolute dream for me. There is nothing that I would change about it. When I made the realization that there was no way I was upgrading, I went to buy a new case and ended up with a midnight blue silicone from Apple. Coming from a midnight blue leather case, I couldn't be happier and it makes it feel like a have a new phone (pretending it's a XS is kinda working for me, actually).

Enough topics? :)

I started September thinking the same thing after the keynote. I did upgrade my Series 2 Watch to Series 4 and held onto my X. Caseology is running a huge discount on certain cases and a screen protector for the X/XS/XS Max, so I took advantage and bought myself 3 cases and a glass screen protector for less than $15. Now I feel like my phone is brand new.

This morning I picked up my XS Max pre-order. This is my first time using the larger screen version of any device. The iPhone X was the largest screen I had ever had up until now.

I decided to go with the Max model as my fingers are large and it was trouble some to type as my I would constantly miss spell works because of my finger size.

I regret the Max. Its damn near impossible to type with one hand and everything seems zoomed in some apps. I have to be honest and say that I prefer the regular sized model over the Max.

I will be downgrading. Anyone else have similar complaints.
For myself, I already knew I liked the screen size of a PLUS sized phone and the iPhone X gave the best of both of my wants. That larg-er screen size and small dimensions.

When I saw the Max. I just said a big nope.

I don't even bother what anyone else does but if it isn't your cup of tea. Return it ASAP. Please. And have a good day sir or madam.

If by Friday I'm still not comfy with it, I'm returning it and just going with the X. It's beautiful but it's just not comfy for some reason. Also I hate the fact that the extra real estate really isn't used yet. Probably be a year before it's even worth it.
