happens on mine, it looks like a driver glitch to me. I'm going to wait it out.

I can easily see a "genius" saying "yup, bad hardware! we'll replace it!" just to move things along when in doubt...

When I reinstalled Mountain Lion (twice), I didn't migrate anything. I erased my drive completely both times.

Did you get your replacement machine yet ?

I have to say that everything runs smooth now, so it was really a software issue.
I only have some issues with youtube playback every now and then when the sound gets suddenly metallic. A refresh of the video fixes this. Another fix is to reset the audio clock to internal during the buggy playback.

No biggy and will probably get fixed sometimes.

I just ordered my replacement today with the Apple rep. I've been working with.

I know that it's probably a software issue but I already put enough time into getting a replacement that I figured I might as well.

Hope you enjoy your new machine!

If this was a hardware issue you would not be able to screenshot the static. I'm patiently waiting for the next update, they probably have patched the stock 10.8.4 version that comes with the air to work. 10.8.4 came out before the air did.

That's what I suggested but the Apple reps I have spoken to beg to differ. And seeing as I spent so much on the computer anyway, I might as well listen to them and just take the new one.

Can't you ask for a replacement anytime within your warranty anyway? I say let's wait for 10.8.5 and see what happens.

So, did you get a new one? How's it going? Advice is welcome since I just saw this:

70Wt+

I noticed this since I started using the machine. It's only happened twice (as far as I'm concerned): first time on TextEdit and second time in Safari. They weren't boxes, but 1px lines, like this:

1OEM+

But now it's becoming more obvious, and I WON'T tolerate glitches on a 2K machine.

Update: I just talked with Apple on the phone.

Long story short, they're gonna send me a replacement, but they'll also let me keep this one until the replacement arrives!

No wonder their customer satisfaction rate is so high.

Who faces with this issue, could give a try for 10.8.5
I had some similar issues with graphic on my windows pc when i have installed buggy gpu drivers. If it is hardware issue you wouldnt be able to make ss of that pixelation, as above have stated

i'm having exactly the same problem! (Air2013) - boxes of graphics glitches in safari.

I'm starting to think it'd be better to wait for a software patch since it seems the problem is software rather than hardware.

(Mine is CTO so would probably take much longer to get a replacement, also my nearest store is at least 1 hour drive away)

You're maybe right, I've gone through 3 different 2013 MBA's so far: 1. 13" i5/4/256, 11" i5/8/256, and 11" i7/8/256. Occasionally, all will do the random artifacts seen on this thread... Hard to believe all 3 had defective RAM or GPU.

An update was released a few weeks ago for the MBA that should address this problem.

I got it a few times in ML but haven't seen it in Mavericks yet. Normally corruption like that would be gpu overheating/faulty, but in this case i'm pretty sure it's just underdone HD5000 drivers

I have experienced it also a few times in Safari but its not really an issue, I hover over the pixelated area and it returns to the colour it is supposed to be. It has to be a software issue if its only in Safari, at least thats what I think.

But like I said this has happened only a few times in the last month and a half that I've owned my machine, so.

Same here

I have had 3 macbrick airs in the past 3 weeks due to wifi issues and on 2 of them I had the same pixilated box on the bar. I told that to the genius at Apple when I exchanged the other 2, and there was no interest in that topic. I guess its just another glitch. I am more concerned with the constant wi-fi lag/drop issue that I am fighting with.

is your 4th one giving you the pixelation issue?

had the same problems but there gone . no idea why. But since its only ins safari it can´t be hardware

pixelation still happens with 10.8.5 along with safari 6.1 beta. Should i try and exchange it again for the 3rd time?

I did a clean install now with 10.8.5 then my glitshes is gone.

What I did was: updated 10.8.4 from AppStore then I did wipe the harddrive complitly and installed everything again from the internet recovery partition.

hello guys. i also had this exact box of pixelation problem. got it replaced a couple days ago from apple. hasn't returned. apple really needs to improve its quality control.
